Development: Can't unclick "multiquote"; searchable smilies/smilie organization?

I discovered the other day after I'd "mulitquoted" a post that I didn't actually want to quote, that I couldn't undo that action. While it's not that big a deal to simply go in and delete the thing that I didn't want to quote, it would be nice to have that button unclickable. (I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 and Vista/XP (both updated with the latest system updates).

On a completely unrelated note: One feature I REALLY miss is the ability to search the smilies. I can't figure the organization of the ones there out, and invariably spend way too much time searching. I used to be able to use my firefox search function to search the smilie box, but this no longer works. The smilie box just isn't searchable.

Hi Lynn! wave.gif

I just tested out the multiquote and it's true that there is nothing to click to undo one or more multiquote selections you've made. I'll place this in our development list. Thanks for reporting the problem. smile.gif

As for the smilies we are going to do a revamp of the organization of them in the box along the lines of what we had before. Not sure about the ability to search them though. I actually never did that so I'm not sure how it was done. Can you clarify that a bit?

I miss being able to search for smilies as well.  :(

Just doing a Cntr+F to search for a particular word was how I did it.  Like I might search for "hug" and find the :hug and :Hug smilies (and btw- WHY do none of them work anymore when I type out the codes?).  Or search for "party" to go straight down to that section instead of having to scroll down the huge smilie box.

Yep. I use Firefox as my primary brower. When I hit Ctrl+F, it will open up a little "find" option at the bottom of the webpage window (illustrated below). It's a really useful tool that I use all the time for lots of webpages.

When I call up the Find function when the smilie window is open, the find box doesn't search the similie box. I don't know if that's because there is no text there for it to search or because find function can't 'see' the box.

Firefox Find (find box appears subtly at the bottom of the screen)

IE Find (find box appears in front of everything you're doing)

About the smile :code it seems to be a compatibility thing with the rich text editor. At least I think that is what I read before. If you switch over the bb code editor you can use the :code's for smiles. You can make the switch in My Profile then Edit Account Details over on the left.

Fantastic!!

Weird though- they worked for me for a couple days after the switch, and then stopped. I don't remember changing that setting.... headscratch.gif

That is how how it was for me as well. Worked then stopped. I think it happened when they were trying to get the smile window to work right.

Arg. I just discovered in that editor that it's REALLY hard to read, and edit, quotes. hmmmm.... smilies or easy quoting. That's a hard call.

Yep it is a hard choice to make. If you use the plain text button when doing a quote it helps remove the code but it also has its drawbacks.

Thanks for explaining the smilie search. smile.gif

On our new platform the smilies exist as a popup that imposes over the webpage you are on. It uses the same URL as the page. So the search function will not search the popup, it will search the page beneath it. As well, from what I can see, the BB code for the smilies are not connected to the page so the Find feature cannot locate it. So it's not something we can currently make possible. redface.gif

Darn! OK, a feature lost. If we can ever get the text codes to work, I'll be OK as I can just memorize the ones I like and skip the whole window.

We have the bb code placement next to the smilies on our list of developments. thumb.gif
