Can we have a thread about helpful supplements for a complete newbie?

I am 40 and want to conceive again, but first I am taking a few months to get ready.  Which supplements might be helpful for me? I am completely new to this, so I need someone to walk me through this.  :)

Attila - Welcome, and I hope your stay here is short!

I think what supplements might be helpful depends on what issues you may be having.  For example, some women take B-6 (or a B-Complex) vitamin to lengthen their luteal phase.  Other ladies are taking soy, I think to strengthen or move ovulation.  There's also vitex, and other supplements out there.  The only one I know anything about is B-6.  I took a B-Complex for a couple of months, and it lengthened my luteal phase from 12 to 14 days.

Best of luck to you!  Hopefully some ladies with more supplement experience can provide you more info!

For prenatals or B complexes, Thorne brand has real folate instead of folic acid.  Doesn't matter for some people, does for others, but it's available a lot of places online and the brand is quite affordable.

I take vitex twice a day and b6 once a day to lengthen LP and stop spotting before periods, my acupuncturist also recommends 1tsp of royal jelly twice daily to improve egg quality (avail. at whole foods), as well as prenatal vitamin. I have heard good things about soy for late ovulation, but don't know much about it.

I've heard that Red Clover Tea is an excellent tonic to drink to bring back or increase your fertility. It has pretty much every trace mineral your body needs and acts like a light estrogen. That is in laymans terms of course, but you should definitely look it up! Also, I don't know how your EWCM is but taking evening primrose oil has certainly helped mine.

Good luck!
