Scar tissue question (Vag TMI beware!)

Hi!  I hope this is the right place to ask this question, I really have no idea.

When I delivered my son I tore horrifically.  The tear itself was a semi-circle (so my mid had to cut the center of it since it was across my ds's head, it had to be cut or the tear would have been much worse for him to be born).  It healed TERRIBLY.  It healed wrong, and so I had to get cut and re-stitched 2.5weeks later, then I had granular scar tissue, that had to be cauterized with silver nitrate at 11.5weeks pp (I was numbed inside and out, and she used scissors to get rid of it - thats how much there was, thankfully I was numbed so I didn't feel it!).

So, my ds was born January of 09 - he'll be 2 in just a few short months.  I haven't had any trouble since the tissue was silver nitrated, after that I was pain free within 48hours, with just a bit of tenderness during that time.

My question is, now I'm having TONS of itchyness in my scar.  It's AWFUL, it makes me want to scratch, but scratching (which is terrible I know!) just makes it HURT. Really bad.  I need help!!

HELP!

Is there an oil or moisturizer that I can use?  Anything??  I'll do/buy anything to make it feel better, its awful and I can't stand it!!!

honestly, I'd start with calendula oil.  I would apply it often (like each trip to the bathroom) and hopefully that would help out immensely.  The other option would be tamanu oil which is excellent for scar tissue-but calendula has an amazing affinity for the genital area.  Definitely my first choice.

Would this oil be useful for slightly irritated stitches after birth? My Epsom salt baths keep on drying out the area.

ohhhhhh yes.  I actually used this myself in a similar situation to the OP.  I tore with my first pretty bad and was stitched incorrectly.  I was told I had to be cut and restitched.  I cried hysterically to my homeopath at the time who told me not to worry about it and just use calendula oil.  I had no expectation it could have done anything, but gave it a go.  It normalized the tissues and I never had to go in for the procedure.

Before I started it I couldn't do anything.  Any move felt like I was tearing more.  It took just a few days on calendula to feel normal again.  I can't explain the loose flap of tissue disappearing, but it did.  Amazing stuff.  A perineum's best friend.

Ok, I have a question.  I can't get to the health food store near me for a few more weeks, so I need to order this online.  Is there a particular brand that you would recommend?  I also looked on Etsy and there were some salves with calendula oil in them.  What did you use?  Can you post a link for me??

no salves!  You want OIL.  either herb pharm or gaia would be great.  I used herb pharm.  I'm sure you can get that through www.emersonecologics.com

could you make your own oil, if you had calendula flowers?
