flying long flights when 5-6 months pregnant?

Hello, :) i just discovered I am pregnant and am also writting my phD thesis this year, the problem is that I need to travel to Japan in about 5-6 months to defend it. I know 5-6 m pregnant is great time to travel but I will have to travel for 2 days before reaching Sapporo, stay for a week or so and then travel back to beirut for another two days. It is changing 3 planes so I am a little worried if it will not be too much...:(  this thesis is really important for me and I wouldn't like to postpone because I would less likely travel with a baby....please tell me what do you think? thank you!

I flew long international flights at 5 months when pregnant with my first and will do so again at 4.5 months with my second. I think it's an ideal time to travel during pregnancy: after first trimester exhaustion/nausea and before the really uncomfortable end of the third trimester. Just bring a lot of water and healthy snacks, and try to rest on the plane as much as possible.

I had a wretched pan-pacific flight at about that time in pregnancy with my first.  It was terribly terrible, BUT I would do that and defend a thesis before a baby instead of after.

Even if it is a bad flight or two (or three) it is over with in howevermany hours, and you'll be done with what you need to do.  It will be worth it.

The travel sounds tough but I'm with the PP, I wouldn't postpone. Good luck with your defense! BTW, I saw on your profile that you're a neuroscientist. What is your thesis about? Sheepish.gif
