Need washing machine recs

I'm sick of my front loader I swear it is causing all kinds of stink issues because it doesn't use enough water to get my diapers clean.  I've been dealing with this for years and I finally give up, I'm buying a new washer.  A top loader.  What's good for diaper washing?

I started looking around online and it looks like most of the top loaders have fill sensors too so I wouldn't be able to pick my water level :(  Any suggestions?

I'm no help with the machine question, but I just read a thing today from diaperjunction.com that said to throw a towel or two in with the wash to make the water level go up. HTH until you find a long term solution!

I had the same problem. I have since learned the europeans ones get the water hotter.

We use one my Dad bought at Costco. The cheaper models do not have sensors. Do you have a place to stick an extra washer? I would love a FL for all my clothes and the TL for just the dipes.

Just have a moment.  We had to get a new top loader this past summer when our Kenmore gave up.  I read a ton of reviews and tried to stay away from computer sensors, HE, etc.  We ended up getting the Maytag Centennial; it has five water levels and four wash temps.  If you have any ?'s I could try and answer them.

Happy shopping!

Do you know exactly which model it is that you have? I googled Maytag Centennial, but it seems there are different ones. I'm specifically looking for a top loader that will allow me to choose the water level, but it's hard to tell online exactly which ones will let you do that. Thanks for any info you can give!

Well, the model # we have is MVWC700V.  It is the largest one with the most options.  We got ours from a local appliance store but I think Home Depot had them at that time.

Hope that helps,

Theresa

Thanks, going to check it out!

I found it, it's cheap!  Smaller then the front loader we have now but I don't think that will be much of a problem since I do laundry every day anyway.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Now if I could just find the money...

ETA ~ Wait, that's not the same model #, still looking...

ETA again ~  MVWC700V, is not available any longer.  I'm going to have dh look at the one I linked here though.  It's only $250 at home depot and has free shipping today.  We should be able to sell our current washer for like $200 so not too bad.

I had the same issue. Had a fl and hated it! Struggled with diapers for 2 yrs and got a tl and have had no issues since. Mine is a roper. Very basic but you can pick the water level and it has 4 levels, 3 temps and a couple wash settings. It does a great job and I have had it for over 2 yrs and am in love. http://www.lowes.com/pd_300180-16533-RTW4440VQ_4294857977+5003701_4294937087_?productId=3264229&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity_sold|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_200%2B400_4294857977%2B5003701_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity_sold|1&facetInfo=$200%20-%20$400

Hope that works. I only paid like 319 for mine and found it cheapest at Menards. Good luck! If you have questions ask. : )

I'm glad to hear you like yours! Dh bought me this same washer and dryer set tonight for a Christmas present! They won't deliver it till next week though. It'll be a 2nd set for us, and I'm so, so excited to have something basic to use for the cloth diapers and other heavily soiled laundry like work out clothes, etc. Our other set is a front loader which works fine for clothes, but I really hated it for cloth diapers.

How exciting! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!

I do too! I've missed having a top loader so many times over the last 3 years, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it. I called our local washer/dryer repairman that we've used for years and trust and asked him if the Ropers were fine for what we need, and he said he wouldn't hesitate to buy one and that they are reliable, workhorse machines. I'm only kicking myself that we didn't get them on Black Friday when they were on sale for $199 each, but at that time I wasn't sure what I wanted yet.
