Homeschooling in Africa

I will be homeschooling my DS in Mali, West Africa. He is 2.5 now as we prepare to go so we'll be starting from the beginning. My main question is how you've managed to give your kids social opportunities. I keep hearing here in the States about homeschooling coops and such. Has anyone ever seen these same set-ups overseas? If not, wha do you do?

Thanks!

We are homeschooling down in Lesotho, and while we don't have a formal coop, we have found a good number of other homeschoolers to do activities with.  There are both missionary and non-missionary families here that are homeschooling, plus many families over the border in South Africa, and we get together on a regular basis for activities.  One of the moms teaches swimming and tennis, my husband teaches fencing, and a variety of field trips to historical/cultural sites are organized by other parents.

I'd be surprised if you didn't find anything over there, particularly among the missionary community, where there seems to be a higher hs rate.  And if you don't find a coop, you could always start one. :)

Good luck!
