lil toddler chairs/furniture

DS is almost 15months and definitely wants to SIT. He is in "playcare" a few hours a week and they have the greatest lil baby/toddler chairs and tables to eat/craft/everything at. But I can't find anything that small! Everywhere seems to have great kid seating, but they're way too high for his size.

We've considered buying kid-sized table/chairs and just cutting off the legs, but..... there has to be something out there. Ideas?

Have you tried Ikea?  They have lots of kids tables and most are reasonably priced.  18 mo DD is getting one for xmas.

We have the nicer Ikea one and yes, it was too tall for DD when we got it (15 mths?) and she required help. But now at 2 it's great for her and she's been able to get on and off the chairs by herself for months. I would go with the taller ones.

For a chair, a booster seat for kids to sit at a table are a good height for a little one. DD also likes using her baby bjorn little potty.

For a table, we just made one out of scrap. Board, 4 legs. Stable enough for snacks and some coloring, but I wouldn't do it that way if your LO is likely to try climbing on.

No climbing here yet. so I'm not TOO worried about that. granted, he has figured out the "one leg" - one leg to go down the stair, one leg to climb up. So he's probably not far off. But he definitely wants to SIT. I've put an old booster chair for the table on the ground and he just sits in it, grabs his toys and takes over to it to play. He is a kid who'd definitely utilize a lil chair.

I'll look into IKEA - our closest is 4hrs away which makes it difficult, but...

And I'm not opposed to buying something larger in a year! I just want something his size. Maybe building something is a good idea.

Thanks for the thoughts!!

Check thrift/resale stores! I found a great table for my very short DS, super cute & he LOVES it (and was only $15!). If they don't have exactly what you're looking for, you could at least find something to cut down to the proper size. :)

check out www.knock-offwood.com

they have easy plans for making furniture. And TONS of kid/toddler stuff. Including a table and chairs and picnic tables. I am going to build the picnic table for my DD's 2nd birthday in the summer.

Ikea will have something for sure and I second checking out local resale/thrift stores :)

Also, local Craigslist can be great source.

Here are some online options:

I'm not sure if you want to spend $60 for this: http://www.albeebaby.com/kettler-kombi-high-chair-solid-beechwood-natural.html

but we looove it (and LO, too). It's a high chair, that turns into a chair & table combo, and we currently use just the top part (chair & tray) on the floor...

It's full wood, really sturdy. It's perfect size for my 14 month-old :) with room to grow, and she is safe in it.

Here is a cute set: table & 2 chairs, and table top reverses to a chalkboard:

Or this one with free shipping (total of$50): http://www.amazon.com/Tot-Tutors-TC922-Chairs-Natural/dp/B003R50PM8

If I find anything else, I'll come back - GL! :)
