Gelatin questions ? Can you get organic gelatin mix ? If so.....

Hi,

I was wondering, if you could help me with the following,

What is gelatin made of ?

What are the benefits of eating gelatin  ?

Can you get organic gelatin, if so, what would be a good brand name ?

Would it be best to go with a plain flavor to avoid the artificial colors ?

Do you include it in your diet ?

I remember as a kid, my mom would say it made your nails grow stronger....

And I got lots of it, when I had my tonsils taken out, LOL!

Thanks for reading!thanks.gif

My family consumes gelatin in bone broths (gelatin comes from bones) and from the unflavored packets which I add to rice and other side dishes when I am not using bone broth to cook them.  I have not found organic gelatin but I am sure it is out there smile.gif

I would definitely not eat the packaged flavored gelatins like Jell-o. The artificial colors and flavors are definitely NOT something I'd want to eat-- never mind the sugar.

We do use unflavored packaged gelatin. We prepare it like Jell0 and sweeten with fruit juice, for a treat. We also use it to make cheesecakes.

Most of the gelatin we eat though is from bone broths.

This is interesting.  I have actually been very weary of gelatin......being that on most msg information sites they state that gelatin is processed in such a way that it produces free glutamic acid which is what makes msg so bad......so I have avoided it altogether....but do wonder sometimes if there are forms of it that would be allright, or at least not as bad as others.....
