Hanna Andersson Sizing for Toddler Girls?

Hanna Andersson has a good on-line sale going on right now with even bigger savings today for those on their mailing list (FYI - in case anyone is interested) so I thought I might do some shopping for next winter.  I always struggle with trying to be thrifty by buying clothes a year ahead since I'm always afraid that the sizing won't work.

DD started out being on the larger size but as she's come into toddlerhood, she's getting smaller compared to her peers.  I was always small as a child and I think she's inherited my genes.  She'll turn 2 next November so will be between around 23 months and 28 months when she needs warm clothes.  According to their sizing chart, 80 would be through 24 months.  Since she's now on the small size, I was thinking about getting size 80.

Any advice for buying clothes a year in advance?  In particular what about Hanna Andersson sizing?  Her current Hanna Andersson clothes seem to run a little big.  She's in 70 right now and it seems a little big.

I'd call HA-their phone people are super helpful!

DD is 16 mo, 33 inches and wears size 80, size 70 sweaters still fit.

I'd be scared to buy for next winter myself because DD grows so fast- maybe tights.

They had some great post Xmas sales last year too where they sold the red and while playdress/daydress super discounted and other sort of Xmasy things as well.

good luck!

My dd turned 2 in early Nov. and is about 24lbs.  She's something like 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height?  I think.  Or maybe the reverse?  I don't know.  My point is that she's not exactly tiny.  :D

I bought several 90s thinking she'd need that size at this point and they're too big.  The 80s are working really well for her.  I even washed the 90s in hot thinking they might shrink a bit (specifically a day dress/play dress) and notsomuch.  What's worse is that I have a size 80 turtleneck onesie from my son that was blue--but bordering on purple/periwinkle and it's even a little big for her.  :(

I find that I get a lot more leeway with HA sizing, but pegging where they'll be a year ahead of time is sometimes hard if you like stuff to really fit well.  When it comes to coats, this is seriously way less of a problem because most of them come with that velcro at the wrist that gives you WAY more usability. I have ALWAYS without fail gotten 2 years out of their coats.

And for whatever reason, I don't appear to be on their e-mail list since I moved.  Wondering what gives and annoyed that I'm now missing extra savings.  :(  I got the catalog, but nothing in my e-mail!  ETA:  I LIED!!  I did a mail search for Hanna and found my 15% off coupon!  :D

I think you'll be fine buying 80's.

My DD turned 2 in June and she's on the small-average (average height and low end for weight) side. This winter at almost 2.5 she's been wearing a combination of 80's and 90's. The 90's playdress is a little big, but we always get two years wear out of them by buying the leggings in two sizes. For instance, last year she wore an 80 in playdresses and leggings and this year, the 80 dresses still fit fantastic, and I bought the 90 leggings at the outlet to extend the wear. Last winter, DD wore 70's playdresses over jeans as tunics. I love the versatility of Hanna's.
