Please Help!!! Coast/Corvallis/Eugene midwife recs??

Hi everyone! I currently live in Bend and believe to be pregnant w/ #2!!  I've got a great midwife chosen here but we'll be moving to Newport in the middle of my pregnancy.  Can anyone give us some recs on midwives in your area?  Will they travel to Newport? I would like a home/water birth or birth center option.... wonder if having preclampsia during my first pregnancy (in Arizona) makes me a "high risk" for midwives here??  I'd like to avoid another hospital birth (my fingers are crossed!)  Any help would be most appreciated!!   Thanks all!  thumb.gif

I had my son at Bella Vie (http://www.gentlebirthcenter.com/), which is West of Salem.  I know that they do all of their appointments at the birth center, but that they do pretty frequent homebirths, and that they'll travel to do them.  I can't say enough good stuff about them...  My midwife there was Patricia, and she was wonderful.

Try Cynthia Luxford of Home Sweet Homebirth. She is near Newport.

I have been working with the midwives at the PeaceHealth Midwifery Birth Center here in Eugene, and they've been great. The facility is brand new and amazing. Their birth philosophy is right in line with what I've been looking for -- basically that pregnancy and birth are natural things that don't need medical intervention. Also I love that they take my insurance!

Woops one correction: I think of it as Eugene, but the Birth Center is actually located in Springfield, adjacent to the big brand new Riverbend Hospital.

Previous preeclampsia will not make you high risk at PeaceHealth.

There are a couple really good midwives in Salem. I don't now any of them (only had PeaceHealth births) but they are highly recommended on my ICAN group. Message me if you want to now more as I am not in here much and may not see a post.

I had DD2 with Margie Houck, who works out of Eugene.  She is a homebirth midwife and I am working with her again for this pregnancy.  She has a great reputation and I love her.  I don't know if she would travel to Newport, but you can PM me if you'd like her number.   My friend in Corvallis is working with another homebirth midwife, whose name I can't remember right now.  This is her scond birth withthe same midwife.  Corvallis is at least closer to Newport.  I can get you her number too.
