Vegan BLW and Putting on Weight

We're doing BLW here and since I'm a vegetarian and DD has a dairy intolerance, she's essentially vegan.  She's 9 months, breastfed, and pediatrican defined "low end of weight".  She's been 15 lbs for the last 3 months.  I'm not worried about her at all, but figured it couldn't hurt to feed her foods that might beef her up a bit.  Any ideas?  I've thought of avocado and garbanzo beans.  What else?  High calorie or high in good fats...

my DS loves hummus, and if you make your own, you can make it heavy on the olive oil.

I second hummus.

Maybe some teething bisquit or cookie made with sunflower seed butter.

Smoothies with flax or evo oil.

squash or potatoes mashed with coconut milk.

coconut milk smoothies

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression you should not give a baby under one year (or maybe even 2 or 3 years?) any nuts or nut products. If that isn't the case then yes, this could be a good food.

I second avocado. Also maybe some starchy things like oatmeal or mashed potatoes.

Also, there's a vegetarian and vegan forum here, you may get even more ideas by posting this over there. GL!

What are the logistics of mashed foods mixed with coconut milk with BLW?  I've been giving her pieces of foods she can easily pick up and eat rather than things like hummus or puree like foods.  Oh the horror!  The mess she would make!  I'll be cleaning for days (and we DO have a dog).

I'm tempted to spoon feed something like that.

we are vegan, and my 9 month old is just 17lbs... so on the smaller end like yours, but she has gained a ton of weight in the last month so i guess we're doing something right! she has really taken off with solids this month... i like to do BLW as much as possible, but for my own sanity, i'm spoon feeding one or two meals per day, because the finger feeding is SO messy and i just can't handle cleaning up after her that many times a day.

anyway, typical meals for us are:

2 tbsp quick oatmeal with 2 inches banana cooked with approx 2 tbsp coconut milk

sweet potato laced liberally with olive oil

spinach and tofu curry (coconut milk)

chickpea soup with potato/veg

sliced avacado

mashed banana with coconut milk zapped in the microwave for a few seconds (omg, this stuff is SO good! we both love it)

as you can see, we eat a LOT of coconut milk. when you buy it, check the different brands available as some are quite watered down and have lots of additives. banana, olive oil and avacado make very frequent appearances. i'm holding off on a lot of soy right now as it seemed she was getting a rash after eating it, but tofu and soy products are good things to eat too. i was losing weight too, so i liberally add oils of all kinds to every meal i eat.

oh yeah, and she's very partial to mashed potatoes and beans (black, pinto etc). i cook the beans and potatoes in broth, then mash with my immersion blender... makes a really smooth and fluffy mash that she loves to eat. really soft beans she can eat herself too.
