What kind of doctor should perform the surgery to remove uterine polyp?

Hi, I just found out from my GYN that my hysterosono result shows I have a uterine polyp. She suggested removing it by a D&C & Myomectomy surgery. I'm okay with it since I experience spotting in between periods. She said she would do the surgery for me.

But I'm not sure if I should let her (my GYN doctor) or a specialist do the surgery? What kind of specialist are they? How can I find an experienced one? Any recommendation?

Gyn is a specialty that has one foot in surgery and one in medicine. All Ob/Gyns are trained in surgery, and many do more surgery than anything else. I'd just talk to her about how many of these surgeries she has done, and don't hesitate to ask if she thinks a Gyn who is more specialized in surgery would be a better choice. If you were going to see a different surgeon it might be someone trained in gynecological oncology because they do tons of surgery.

I had this done by a reproductive endocrinologist. If you have access to an RE that would be my first choice because they do a lot of these types of surgeries, if not just make sure your ob has a lot of practice. It's rare but there can be complications.

I had one done by my GYN.  It was a routine surgery for her and I didn't have any complications.  

Looking back I wish I'd gotten a second opinion, b/c I'm not sure that it was actually a necessary surgery.  I went on to have difficulty conceiving and I wonder if the surgery complicated my situation (D&C can cause scarring).  I still had spotting as well, which was later attributed to other causes (poor O).

I'm kind of worried and not sure if my OB/GYN can do a great job. Not sure if she has not practised a lot on these surgeries. Just like "tea_time" mentioned, that could lead to scarring on the wall which my OB/GYN also mentioned. I hope this will not happen to me.

I will try to look for reproductive endocrinologist if they are the ones who have practised a lot in this field.  if theif   

I'm also experiencing another symptom. I have pelvic pain, not strong pain but enough for you to feel discomfort. I asked my OB/GYN and she said it could be the polyp. I'm reading some people do have pelvic pains but not due to polyps. Do you have any idea that could be some other issues besides polyp?

I think i will choose a specialist - reproductive endocrinologist to do this surgery. Just like "tea_time" indicated that it might cause scarring if the procedure is not done well enough. The size of my polyp is 1.3cm. I think I will have to have it removed or it can cause trouble getting pregnant later on.
