What does your 2 year old ride on outside?

I feel like we are at an in between stage. We have so many things, but they are either too young or too old for my almost 2yo. We have a balance bike, a tricycle (bigger size, his feet don't reach the pedals), razor 2 wheel scooters, a Radio Flyer scoot bike, and a Step 2 car with a handle that I can push. When we go on walks he usually rides in the buggy, but he really wants to ride on something with big brother. The one thing he is really good at is a fisher price bus, but he is so good on it that he scares me. He goes flying down the sidewalk and I have to RUN to catch him. I had him try out a 3 wheel scooter at a store, but it was still a little tall for him. He is somewhat tall though, and a lot of the toddler appropriate things that he can maneuver well are too short for his legs so he gets all tangled.

I need some ideas of other things to try out or look for on craigslist.

Good question....and one I'd like ideas about, too.

DS got a balance bike for his 2nd birthday and it's the right height for him (lowest setting) but he just isn't interested in spending more than a minute or two on it at a time.  He enjoyed trying another kid's 3-wheel scooter at the playground...I don't remember what kind it was, but I think the height was ok for him.  But, DH and I are reluctant to get something else that DS won't use, even though he's showing interest now.  Especially since I tend to research these things to death and the scooters that are well-reviewed are by no means cheap.

We have a mini kick scooter for my son, and he's been riding it since he was 18 months or so.

We use a tricycle with a handle on the back so I can steer/control speed.

My daughter has the My First Scooter (I think) from Radio Flyer.)  She's tiny but has been using it since before she was two.  The handle folds which is nice when I need to carry it or we take it in the car.

What about a two seater for your older child so that your 2 year old can "help." If you find a used kettler they have a second seat addon.

So happy to see this thread. Our little one is about to turn two and christmas is bringing her some type of ride on thing. We thought of getting her a balance bike, she's tall and could fit, but she loves riding on trikes at other people's houses. We are looking into finding one that has a handle so I can stand up and push and steer since she can't. I wonder if there is one out there that would work on bumpy rides, we live in the woods and have some flat spaces, but no pavement. Curious to see the other posts. :)

the mini kick looks great, really good reviews on amazon....but pricey!  and they don't sell it at TRU (where we have a $50 gift card we can use).

the radio flyer first scooter is cheaper, but not as well reviewed.  sound like the major complaints are that kids can't really coast at all on it and the footboard is so wide that it can be awkward for kids to use...?

I've read the same RF reviews but that has not been our experience.  We have two three-wheeled scooters.  My kids (ages 6 and 3) have used them both and  the both can coast easily and have not found the RF one to be awkward at all.  We bring ours to the park regularly, and probably 50 kids have used them successfully.

We looked at the Radio Flyer scooter as well.  My kids both liked it, and the toddler could easily use it, but it wouldn't last nearly as long as the mini-kick (it goes to 45 pounds, the mini kick goes to 65) and it isn't anywhere near as maneuverable.  However, the fact that it doesn't cruise makes it easier to learn on, since it won't get away from them - especially if you have a cautious child like my older one.
