What are your children doing for math today?

My 10 yo ds just practiced roman numerals on www.ixl.com and now he's doing lesson 2 in CLE Math 410.

My 7yo dd is working on lesson 8 in CLE Math 203.

5yo ds is doing page 41 in Counting With Numbers right now and is going to do www.ixl.com next.

The kids all played Monopoly this morning, which is mathy.

In December we are working with the joy of giving.  We have a neat book called "Give Me Half" by Stuart Murphy that we are reading.  This goes in line with my philosophy that anything they need to know at this age (5 and 3) can be learned through a picture book.

Nik is working on learning money.  He's picked up on it surpisingly well, and as a bonus it is helping his skip counting skills!  Today he did a few pages of Math Mammoth and a couple from a workbook on counting money.

Jessica those math mammoth money worksheets are great!  We just go math u see, after doing solely math Mammoth all year.  I was really having to spend a lot of time with him, and make it less "schooly."  He was really hating it and for me I wanted him to be a little more independent. but of course you can't teach yourself with no tools!  He LOVES math u see!    It's very independent which is great with 2

Thank you for this suggestion!  I reserved it at my library for my 6 and 4 year olds.  :)

My oldest is working on his multiplication in Math U See.

My 4 year old asked for a workbook today, so we did a lot of counting/number recognition until she was ready to stop.

My 6 year old has been doing MUS primer, but it skips from counting 0-9 to double digits with the assumption the child has already memorized counting past 20.  So we are just practicing counting each day and she practiced writing numerals today.

Today we worked on place value and 10s, 100s and 1000s.  We are working on recognition and adding the tens w/ single digits.

my little girl just finished reviewing her multiplication flashcards (we use CLE too).  my little boy isn't feeling well, so he's just been watching blue's clues on netflix all day.  otherwise, he would have completed a lesson in saxon math.  pretty lame day today actually.

My little girl - who is now nearly as tall as I am - is doing a few exercises on ellipses from her Intermediate Algebra book from Art of Problem Solving.  Shortly we will ditch the books and head out into the nice afternoon to ride horses though!

16yo dd is on a math holiday until February when she'll be doing pre-calc (what's called Principles of Math 12 here)

14yo ds: reviewing algebra I work (multiplying and dividing polynomials) before taking a foray into probability and statistics.

12yo dd: similar to her brother, but also reviewing some pre-algebra (repeating decimals, negative exponents, simplifying radicals)

7yo dd: division with decimal solutions; also multiplication, division and estimation to 10,000,000

We just got Math U See in the mail but we'll start after we get back from a week at Grandma's house. Interesting to see what everyone is up to since trying a curriculum is completely new to us.

We're still in our 30-day trial of Destination Math.  It's out of our price range so we won't be continuing after the trial which is a bummer - ds LOVES it!  He went through a lesson on numbers 10 to 20 and had a blast.

We baked a cake. There is just math all around us. The 9 yr old did some work out of Singapore Math and the older children learned to multiply matrices.

Ds (6, 1st grade) began his first lesson on adding double digits.  We use MUS, he's on lesson 5 I think in Beta.

We also played some yahtzee  :)

We worked on math last night. Since we used Horizons this past week, we spiraled through a lot of stuff like adding 3 2-digit numbers and 2 3-digit numbers, measurement, money, reading bar graphs, greater/less numbers in the 100's, etc.

I've not been formally doing much with math lately here.  7yo dd has been playing with money this weekend, making change and counting coins, and 6yo dd is making her own drill sheets to practice her addition facts and then bringing them to me to grade. 4yo dd and 3yo dd are working on counting and joining their big sisters at the math they've been working on.

And if it matters any, the math progams we use are Miquon (7yo dd, she's slowly working through orange), Horizons (6yo dd, she's almost done with math 1 already), and Singapore Earlybird (4yo and 3yo dds done orally).  We set the timer for 10-15min and just tinker with it a bit as we are capable and interested.
