Need advice--18 weeks with twins.....are these normal symptoms

hi-

so i hate to cry wolf.  are these normal symptoms when you are 18 weeks with twins. 

crampiness below the belly button (doesn't feel like a ctx on my stomach).   i do contract occasionally at night but this feeling is different.  is this normal b/c everything is growing and stretching?  i didn't have this with one baby in my belly. 

weird feelings in my cervix area.  maybe some pressure.  i can't tell if it is just a baby pushing on it or if it is something i should be worried about.  ie cervical shortening/dilation.

I had some BH around 20 weeks and horrible leg cramps at night. I did have a shortened cervix but no symptoms. Later at about 25 weeks, my son would kick my cervix but other than the symptoms listed above, nothing else was going on. Does your local hospital have an OB advice nurse?

I would ask for an intravaginal ultrasound, to look at the length of the cervix. Chances are it's fine-- I had a lot of contractions beginning very early on, with my twins. I also had lots of aches and pains and plenty of pressure. But it's so hard to know for sure what's worrisome and what isn't. I gave birth to my first singleton extremely early, and had no idea I was in labor until I was fully dilated-- early preterm labor can be really really subtle. So I would get it checked out, just to be sure. You can turn up at an L/D unit even in the middle of night, and ask to be monitored, and they can do it.

The advice I was given was to get any cervical pressure or crampiness checked out because early preterm labour can be so subtle.  In the end, I was only in Labour and Delivery with one false alarm.  My sister in law was in and out of L&D the last 6 months of her twin pregnancy and sometimes it was nothing to worry about, but several times, she was given medication to stop labour.

If in doubt, get it checked out.

I had low cramps and odd pains often with my twins, and I had zero pre-term labor and no shortened cervix. I would not stress about it! Chances are they are stretching you in a way that you have not been stretched before! Always call your doctor though if it will make you feel better :) Being worried all the time won't help the already stressfull situation of being pregnant with twins!

I can't remember having that so I would go and get checked out, just to be sure hun
