Roll Call and Due Date Roster August 2011 - Page 15

post #281 of 323

hey everyone. i know i'm kind of joining in a little late, but since i've posted a few things already...

Name: Alyssa

EDD: August 4

Age: 20, will be 21 when baby comes

Location: West Central Texas right now, will be Hampton/Newport News, VA area a couple months before EDD

How long it took you to get you BFP: (what is BFP) we weren't trying, if i understand correctly

What number child is this for you: number 1

Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): just DH of1.5 years

Birth plans/preferences: i want a birthing center water birth with a CNM, but the insurance won't cover that. I have to go to the military hospital (which doesn't support water birth) or a civilian hospital, if the military one can't take me.

Anything else you'd like to share: I really hate some of the military medical policies regarding birthing, especially in the area that i'm going to be in. I'm really tempted to have a home birth, but then i'm sure the insurance and everyone @ the hospital will get mad at me and in turn give me a headache. i do have rights that i'm looking forward to enforcing. I'm scared since this is our first and my mother was a Labor and Delivery nurse (she made me promise that she could be at all of our kid's births), so i know of some things that could happen and she knows more. As most of you probably figured out, I'm a military wife. it's good for the most part, just wish there were more options regarding childbirth. I'm sure i'll complain about one thing or another thoughout my DH's career.

Welcome! I'm sorry you have limited options for the birth. At Ft. Lewis (in WA, a bit north of me), they do pretty well. They have midwives and water births and all. Maybe try to come here instead ;) I've heard good things about them (on the midwife side, not so much the OB).

Hopefully soon the rest of the military medical world will be more like we are here.

We can only hope. Ft. Lewis is an Army base, and my husband is in the Air Force. They have different things with each branch, although, the insurance is the same for all. I've actually been talking to a mother where we are going and she has good things to say about the midwives at the military hospital. I haven't heard much about the OBs, though. I'm having a hard enough time with the one I have now.

I have lots of other anxieties about going to a military hospital as well. maybe I'll start a thread about it, or write it in a blog. i did start crying over them last night.

My hometown is in WA, by the way.

Cool :) (About the WA thing)

A thread would be fun. I'm very sorry you're having a rough time :(

Amy

August 30th

32 years old

Duluth, Minnesota

1st pregnancy, and a very happy surprise! We were not trying to prevent, because of long time infertility issues, and just hadn't worked up the nerve to see a specialist about it yet.

Just married DH last August, also live with future grandpa (FIL), 2 lazy cats and 1 spoiled pug.

Planning for a natural birth, still working out details. Interviewing doula's soon!

We are all updated, ladies!  Congrats to the newbies!

New to the group here!  Here's my info to add.  :)

Name: Katherine
* EDD: Early August (I don't believe in specific EDDs.  Practicing my patience by sticking to early/mid-August.)

* Age: 31
* Location: Texas
* How long it took to you to get your BFP: 4 cycle
* What number child is this for you: 2nd
* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DH of 9 years, 3 year old DS, baby #2 is a surprise, gender wise, and 1 dog
* Birth plans/preferences: Planning a HBAC but just ran into our first insurance issue.
* Anything else you'd like to share: We have BCBS and a POS plan, which I've never heard of before, and apparently EVERYTHING must be done with the PCPs referral.  Unfortunately we live in a not-so-home-birth-supportive area so I'm trying to figure out a creative way to get our insurance to not be such butt heads!  I'll be looking for past threads on other families who have dealt with a POS plan and successfully had coverage with an out-of-hospital midwife.  :)

Yea for all of these sweet babies and their wonderful Mommas!  Our bundle is due Aug 30th.  We are having a BOY =)  We are delighted since we have a 4 year old girl at home who is beyond thrilled to become a big sister!

Hi! My name is Kerrin and I'm due with my first--A GIRL!--on August 1st! I'm planning a home waterbirth with my midwives and family. I've always wanted a homebirth and now I'm hoping and praying that I can live that dream! My pregnancy came as a very unexpected, but welcome surprise. Nonetheless, I will be a single mommy. I have an amazing family and support system, so I do not have many worries on that front. I am trying to keep a positive and relaxed attitude during this pregnancy and enjoy every moment! I'll be starting my HypnoBabies classes in May, and am really looking forward to them. I'm hoping they'll prepare me somewhat for what's about to come in a few months! I'm so happy to be here and am looking forward to meeting lots of other mommies-to-be due around the same time!
