We LOVE our EI specialist.  LOVE!!  When I tell DS she's coming, he runs to the window to watch for her car.  She is certainly not looking for problems that aren't there.  She's 100% supportive of our little guy (and our very unconventional parenting choices!).  She brings lots of fun new toys for DS to play with each session.  I am always there, always involved in the session.

We've had 2 speech therapy consults, one at 2 years, and one at around 30 months.  DS had fun!  He thought it was all play time.  We didn't end up needing further visits, but I would have been very confident in the therapist that we had, should we have needed more help.

Give it a try.  If you or your child don't click with the specialist assigned to you, you can always switch.  And if that doesn't work either, you can just stop the services.
