Mamas, I practiced CLW and I am so proud of myself

My 3 1/2 year old I think has just weaned himself.  It has been five days and he has only nursed once, and for only a few seconds at that. Months before this he was phasing out his nursing, and his nursing started getting weird too.  Like sucking that wasn't nursing sucking, it's hard for me to explain.

I didn't get a lot of support and in fact I got a LOT of negative feedback for nursing so long.  I am very proud of myself for doing what I thought was best for my son.

My first son was fed by bottle with EBM for 11 months, I pumped exclusively.  My second son, who is now 3 1/2, was a 33 weeker and it was crazy hard to get him to the breast after being in the NICU for weeks being bottle-fed, but we did it. 

I am so happy I could give this gift to my son! I am really proud of us!  No one understands but the mamas here, I think.  So, thank you MDC mamas.

yeah!!!! i'm in the same boat as you. mine is almost 3.5 and asks for it a couple times a week at bedtime now and he will only nurse for about 20 sec. i knew it was possible to do it without tears!!!!!!!!! just had to be the right time

Wow, I hadn't even thought of that, maybe I will! I keep wondering though if it's really over.  I would love to have some celebration to commemorate (sp?) this milestone. Thanks Mamas for all your congratulations this is so huge for me.
