QUICK!!! Help..........Kitten questions

I'll try to make this as short as possible. Yesterday my mom's boyfriend brought her a kitten for her birthday (I know....terrible idea).....I think he's about 8 weeks old or so.....not exactly sure where he got him. He's a manx kitten. Apparently he smelled terrible when they got him and they gave him a bath. Today I brought my girls over to see him and as soon as I picked him up I got poop all over my hand......he didn't have loose stools or anything.....there was just literally poop coming out of him. It kept happening until he finally just pooped all over the carpet (again, solid poops). Anway.....my mom was going away for the weekend (I know...good planning) and was just going to leave him for 2 days by himself in a small walk in closet (don't even get me started on this) so I said I'd take him. Well......it's been a disaster, he keeps pooping on the floor.......he goes in his box but doesn't do anything in it (and it's clean). It's like he doesn't know or care poop is coming out.....it just comes out. He also seems to be dripping pee........he stunk so bad I bathed him and got him all cleaned and dry and then he peed again but it seems to be going all down his leg and all over his fur? Even if he'd made it to the litter box to pee it would just be all over him. Of course I know he peed somewhere in the house and it'll be fun finding that. He jumps up on me or I pick him up and pee just flies everywhere. I don't get it..........I've had a couple kittens in my life and rescued a few more (and rehomed them) and never encountered a kitten like this. I'm wondering if something is wrong with him. For the time being he's locked in one of our bathrooms with his bed but it just breaks my heart to think of him in there by himself on his 2nd night away from his mom........I just don't know what else to do. He obviously needs to go to the vet but I'm not sure if it should be now.......or if I can wait until I bring him back to my mom (Sunday). Sorry if this is rambling a bit. Any suggestions or ideas?

I would take him in right away. It sounds like he's having issues even controlling when it comes out and that's a bad sign. I would take him as soon as possible and then talk to your mom about helping out with the bill.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You might be right about him not being able to control it. I just talked to my mom and she said she noticed he was peeing on his leg and dripping a bit. She said she would take him to the vet first thing Monday but I'll see how he's doing tomorrow and maybe I'll just take him and see what's going on.

That's a common problem with Manx (and other tailless) cats due to the structure of the tail & surrounding tissue.

Just google "Manx Syndrome".

I did not know that.......thanks

I had a manx kitten (rescued) who I had to euthanize at 12 weeks old due to this "Manx syndrome".  Whoever she bought it from is a TERRIBLY IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDER.  She needs to call them, get her money back, raise hell, and try to spread the word to never get a cat from these people.

She didn't buy it........her boyfriend did and is trying to contact the breeder but they aren't answering calls (surprise). I had no idea about this issue with Manx cats  (I've never bought a cat in my life......all mine have been rescues) and I'm so mad at the breeder......besides the fact there are way too many unwanted cats/kittens in the world, they are breeding cats with the potential for debilitating health problems. Anyway, the little guy did have Manx syndrome and had to be put down on Monday. I feel so terrible for him.........he was one of the nicest, most affectionate kittens I'd ever met and I feel so bad he had to go through what he did. The people who bred him would have known about the problems he had but sold him anyway and will likely continue to breed their cats........beyond infuriating.

I'm so sorry about your little kitty.  Yes, they will keep selling these kittens, and they will keep dying.  It's sad.
