4yr old and his obsession w giving baths

he likes baths okay, but he keeps filling up sinks, tubs, buckets you name it with soapy water.  to bathe his toys or whatever or just to even have around him.  i don't mind and i know its fun imagination play but it's getting to the point now where hes obsessed and tries to do this all day, wastes soaps and shampoos and gets water everywhere.  i mean its all day ever day, it started about two weeks ago.

so is there anything i can do? maybe a water game thats similar to distract him and give him a taste of it without it being something that becomes a huge inconvenience, is it a sensory thing? help.

no help here, just commiseration.  the rule in our house is "no making floods!!" (ie, all over the counters, floors, etc).  drives me crazy, though it does seem to be passing (was a multiple time a day event for a while, now not even daily).
