Not too pricey Wooden Dollhouse for 4yo?

I'm looking for links to a wooden dollhouse for my 4yo DS. I need it to be reasonably priced ($75.00 or less) and not too large in scale. 

He hasn't really expressed an interest in any particular item for Christmas, but finally last night he said he had thought of 3 things he wanted: "I'd like a wooden house with pretend people, a big plastic mushroom house and some pajamas,"

I figure the pjs will be easy peasy and the mushroom thing doesn't exist. So hopefully my fellow MDC mamas can help me find a "wooden house w/pretend people."

I think they are both so adorable, and you can configure the pieces however you want to make chairs/beds/tables/etc. They can also be used as a puzzle and building blocks. You could get a dollhouse family (like from plan toys) to go with it, and they would take up very little space.

The Calico Critter houses are cute, but are plastic.

Melissa and Doug make a furnished wooden dollhouse that comes with 4 dolls for $75.  There are also fold and go houses that are smaller and come with a few things, like this one.

P.S. - They do make mushroom houses!  This one from Magic Cabin is adorable.  And there are lots of plastic mushroom smurf houses like this.  Here's a really adorable mushroom playtent.

I've seen the M&D mentioned and it looks good. But I've had lousy luck with their toys, they don't wear well and get recalled. Educo has a better reputation. I am buying this as a gift this year. (Note: great price right now. Jump on it. It won't go lower.) Includes people and furniture.

I got a Plan Toys doll house like this one (only an older model) on Craigslist for $50 and that included all the dolls and furniture.

I'm going to second the Craigslist idea.  I would keep an eye out on there.  I've been seeing them posted on my local Craigslist all season.  Watch both Baby and Kids AND Toys and Games.

I love these! Have never seen them before...I really think he will like the puzzle/building block aspect of it. Something to consider for sure. 

And Thank you for the KP compliment. It's my first and I just adore it.

The Melissa and Doug house is what I sort of had in my mind. And that mushroom house is super cute! We actually have several Smurf houses circa 1980's that belonged to my DH when he was a kid that DS currently plays with. They are old school and the mushroom house tops are separate from the bottoms. He made it VERY clear that he didn't want a mushroom "with two pieces." He's not particular or anything.  That mushroom play tent is awesome. Too big for our house and too pricey right now, but if his mushroom fixation continues, it might end up being a birthday present.

So you won't believe this luck...after checking out lots of links, I showed DS some of them and asked him to give input on which ones he liked best. He tells me that he wants one just like the one he saw at our cousin's house a few weeks ago. I was more confused than ever.

So I email my cousin today for the brand of house they have and ask where they got it. He called me back and said "Do you believe in the idea of the universe bringing things your way as a result of your thought and intent?"  I wasall "Um...I guess. Why?" And he tells me that just last night he was pulling out his kids' dollhouse to display some nutcrackers on and he said to his husband "You know, the kids never play with this and never really liked it. We should find it a new home."  Then he gets my email this morning. :)

I immediately offered to buy it from him and he said absolutely not, but he'd be more than happy to GIVE it to us. I double and triple checked with him that his kids (8 and 11) were absolutely willing to get rid of it and he said that yes, he asked each of them and they said they never really liked it and won't want to play with it in the future.

It's a Ryan's Room dollhouse with tons of furniture and dolls. DS is going to be over. the. moon. on Christmas morning! Not sure where we are gonna put it, since it is larger than I was anticipating, but I'm sure we'll figure something out. Totally a good problem to have. 

Thank you all again for the wonderful suggestions. We just might be able to get that wooden mushroom house now after all. :)
