Emergency Water Filter?

Thread Starter

Hi!

Can anyone recommend an emergency water filter?  Would like to be able to drink the water from the creek that runs through our property if we ever needed to.  Does anyone know of a product that might fit this need?  Just for emergency use really.

Thanks,

jessica

The Big Berkey will do that.  I use it for our general water usage (LOL, not from the creek.  I use it to filter the nastiness out of our tap water, since we have an immune compromised child and our water still has some contaminants in it even after high rates of chlorine are put in it (our district gets warnings on it every year, and the reports they put out said that immune compromised people should filter their water).  That, and I don't want the high rates of chlorine...or fluoride...in it either.)

for some reason I had the idea that the Berkey didn't filter out fluoride...  sorry to be a bit OT.

I'd def look at it as an emergency water option to get water from your creek.

With the Big Berkey, you can get a filter insert that does. :)  It doesn't come automatically, but you can buy it with your Berkey.

Another vote for a Berkey.

We used to live in the city, and did purchase the extra white filter to remove the flouride, but are now on well water, so just use the standard black filters.

Although we are on a well, we too have 2 small creeks that flow on either side of the house, so can always pull water (block of ice) and filter said water in time of power outage, etc.

We even taken our Berkey camping, so we can filter water from river while in the back country.
