Unusual vaginal discharge

I need someone to talk me down... I have had quite a lot of discharge since the beginning of this pregnancy (in fact, I tend to use a liner most days even when I am not pregnant.) I think I've had a yeast infection once, a long time ago, but no history of infections.

During this pregnancy the discharge has been almost watery, and I would describe the color as creamy-yellowish. Although I just presented a used liner to my husband (what a guy!) and he actually described it as very light brown (thanks, DH, just what I needed to hear.) The smell over the last few days has become a bit - well, ripe, is the best word I can come up with. I panicked and jumped on Google and nearly had a heart attack when I read about bacterial vaginosis. But this has symptoms of gray-white discharge (which I don't have) and a distinctly fishy smell. My DH and I agree that the smell isn't fishy, exactly, but certainly "off". I don't have any itching or burning.

Any idea what this may be? I have my last appointment with an RE on Tuesday (with an ultrasound) but I am not due to have my first midwife appointment until December 14. I am 13 weeks pregnant. I think I will call my midwives first thing and see if they can see me this week. Until then I panic every time I go to the bathroom.

you can get a simple culture for BV and i would do it if you can, i did not have any symptoms except "increased fluid" and a smart midwife looked at it under a scope and saw that i had a light case of it and i took some stuff and got it over with before it ever became an issue.

i would say in general any time your fluid is not clear or white or if the consistency changes too much it is something to ask about. since many things can show differently in different ladies it is best to just get tested and deal with it proactively.

watery seems fine, the color would not make me comfortable, i would talk to someone. Till then i would not panic, most everything is really easily dealt with, really

Adorkable, can I ask how far along you were when you were diagnosed? I have read that it can cause 2nd trimester miscarriage so I am extremely concerned. Also, how long did you have to wait for the test results to come back?

i was about 29 or 30 weeks with my twins and they tested it right in the office, i think they look at it under a slide microscope, but I'm not totally sure. i was on a vaginal abx for a week, i have since gotten a full work up and shown no sign of it.

Don't panic: you can have all kinds of discharge during your pregnancy and it can still be normal (incl. different colours and consistency - as long as it's not bright red). Off-smell seems normal too.  But if you are this worried, I'd certainly call my midwife - at the same time, also try to stay relaxed until you see her, as that's the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby.

Not exactly your situation but I've also been having lots of discharge (usually either clear or creamy-whitish).  It's a good thing I use cloth pads because I go through about 3-4 liners on an average day.  Ugh!  I agree that having it checked out sounds like a good idea if it's concerning you.
