Just checking in here.  I finally announced my pregnancy to my 2 bosses today.  One's wife is expecting two weeks behind me so he was super stoked which surprised me a little bit.  He swears I'm having a boy based on what I'm eating.  He says those on the "lumberjack" diet have boys.  Eating mostly meats, cheese and carbs.  We'll have to wait and see.  Our anatomy scan in Monday afternoon.  I'm super excited.  DH is hoping the babe doesn't cooperate.  He really wants the surprise factor.

Baby aloha is moving around a ton.  We can both feel the thumps from the outside which is really neat for DH.  Babe usually quits when he put his hand on there though.  How do they know?  Little stinker already. 

I'm still feeling really well....other than the fact that I've put on a whopping 11 lbs this month .  I can see the weight gain.  Unfortunately for me I gain weight in my face, hips, and belly.   I'm getting a little rounder but babe is still concealing him/herself really well.  My massage therapist mentioned that my hips are already widening--great.  By the time I deliver, I might be the size of a semi.

I can't wait for the the warm weather to get here.  I heard the frogs last night so hopefully that means spring is on it's way.

I'm really not into the whole party scene but a couple of my friends have already asked if they could give me a shower.  I tried to discourage it as we are minimalist and don't want a bunch of "extra" stuff junking up the house.

We are doing co-ed showers.  It' seems to be the norm around here.  All of the showers I've been to in the last couple of years have been couple type BBQ's and they were a lot of fun. 

I'd really like to do a blessing-way and think that I will do it after my mom arrives so that she can participate.  She wants to come out for a month around the birth time so that she will get to see me pregnant and then see her grand baby for a bit before she has to go back home.  I told here that she was welcome to come but there would be no guarantee to my mental state of mind.  We are on opposite coasts and they (my family) are on very limited incomes so they don't travel much.  Unless we go out there (East Coast) we don't get to see them for years at a time which is hard to miss all the kids growing up. 

It sounds like everyone is doing really well.  I'm excited to see how things progress as we all get closer. 

Sorry for all the jumping around but that has been my state of mind lately.  Baby brain has got the best of me.

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie/first time mom due 7/7/11 (it's a girl!). I'm semi-miserable, on day 3 of a head cold that shows no sign of leaving soon - this is my second in about 4 weeks! A new, unfortunate record for me.

I'm living in my maternity jeans - best invention ever! Unfortunately, I only have one pair of maternity dress pants so far, so I'm still using the hair elastic system + bella band for my other work pants. Can't wait for spring and better skirt weather.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all!

Sorry you are sick (again).  DH just got over his 3rd cold of the season--I've managed to avoid them all.  Praise God!

I'm with you.  Can't wait for the warmer weather so I can get into skirts.

PinkPostIt - you have been added, and welcome! I love your username! Hope your cold goes away soon. So far I've avoided all the colds this season, but I've been mildly congested pretty much since we got our BFP. I'm sure looking forward to that part of pregnancy going away soon!

"by the time I deliver I might be the size of a semi"  HAHA-- don't worry, you're not alone lady.  I stepped on the scale this morning and had gained 3 lbs in 3 days?!?!  I know this isn't right, it has to be water weight because there's no way, but it's still frightening to see.

It is exciting to see all of the people about to be new parents in July.  I'm sure it's exciting everytime you're about to bring a new life into the world, but something about first timers is so cute.  Maybe naivity?  Haha.

I also love my mat jeans.  I only have one pair and I was really hesitant about buying them because they're from the Gap and I had to drop $70 on them, but so far they have been my best investment so far.  So comfy - so stretchy- so cute- and so flattering. They are trouser jeans and I love trouser jeans - they balance out my top half nice.

Co-ed baby shower with board games sounds like a blast.  I'm a Taboo kinda girl myself.  I'm letting my mom take the reigns on this one.  She's doing it at a restaurant.  Fine, one less thing I have to think about.  Should be interesting though because I only have a handful of girlfriends and half of them are gay and don't care about babies (hah).  I do want my husband to be there though....it's not just my baby!

I'll be trucking along with you girls!  I've already put on 17lbs and I'm guessing it's not going to slow down any time soon since I've lost all motivation to exercise.  I'm really hoping that once it stops snowing here and the temp warms up a bit I might feel like leaving the house or getting my preggo but off the couch. 

I haven't registered for anything for the baby and now that more people are talking showers I guess I'll have to start thinking about it.  Has anyone done the myregistry.com thing?  I'm thinking about doing that (it fits better with my couch potato lifestyle right now) but I don't know how well it works.  I'm pretty sure I learned about it on here somewhere but who knows!

Anyone else being kicked awake at night?  This little bugger really likes to dance at about 3-4 o'clock in the morning.  It's still really exciting so it hasn't annoyed me too much yet, but I imagine later in the pregnancy when the novelty has worn off and the kicks aren't cute but painful I'll probably change my mind.  Luckily I'm getting used to the sleep deprivation, sort of.  If getting used to means sleeping past my alarm and skipping showers so I can sleep longer .  It's worth it, I love feeling the baby move around it makes me smile every time.

Everything is just so new and exciting I'm loving everything about being pregnant!  Don't look back to my 1st trimester posts, I'm pleading amnesia!

I had my big US and found out we're having a boy! I was stunned, and am still a little shocked, honestly; I thought I was ready to hear the news either way, but my subconscious mind apparently was totally convinced it was a girl. Nope--he is DEFINITELY not a girl! I'm not disappointed, but my mind is still reeling a bit. I had all sorts of crafting and parenting ideas in my head that apparently need adjusting, now. And now I have to think about circumcision in more than just a theoretical way--darn it!

We've even shared with the family; I didn't want to before... but apparently, that was because I just didn't want to tell them it was a girl and have all the pink stuff (I do HATE pink!) but as it turns out, I think they can be trusted to respect my preferences with a boy, and maybe be less prone to getting carried away with buying clothes.

My mom sobbed a bit that she didn't get to buy dresses. I'm trying to not be mad about that, but it did sting. She's not known for her tactful ways. *shrug* (In a fit of pique, though, I did say she could buy them anyway, that I wouldn't mind dressing him in them--I wouldn't!--but she totally balked there! ;)

Anyway, he is perfectly healthy in every way, very active and super-bendy--the contortions were hilarious to watch. He's measuring even a little bigger than the extra week I think I should be. (early US and my charting disagreed by a week, but I'm still sure I'm right)
I'm still not feeling him much, if at all, but my placenta is in front and up top, right where he's been hanging out, mainly with his feet over his head kicking up at my ribs, apparently, so even the 5 minutes of serious *stomping* we witnessed? Nope, I felt nothing! Maybe he'll shift around soon ; I'm sure I will feel it if he's a bit lower down.

I'm feeling pretty unwieldy now. I've got a short torso, so I've only got about 2-3 inches left between my fundus and my ribcage; I'm starting to feel squished. The belly seems to be in the way a lot of the time, especially when dealing with shoes or trying to get things out of kitchen cabinets. Heartburn has been kicking in more regularly.

I'll hit 20 weeks on Sunday. Then, I suppose, I will have to think a little more seriously about all the things we need to do! With my medical history, there's probably a huge chance of going early, perhaps substantially early. My brain is still not all the way wrapped around the enormity of it all yet, though!

meander: I swear, every time I get worried and go check for a post from you, you post later that same day You're having a boy! That's awesome! I know completely how you feel about expecting it to be a girl. We really expected that as well. I'm not disappointed that we're having a boy, it's just a mental shift from what I was prepared for. Glad everything is going well for you!

yell: A lot of DH's and I's friends (both male and female) are gay as well. It's funny though, more of them are interested in the baby thing than our hetero friends!

mugglesmom: We haven't registered anywhere yet either. I'm a bit worried about it but then I also figure that people are probably going to buy me whatever they feel like rather than follow the registry anyways. The only things we really need are car seat and stroller and I think the families will be chipping in together for those things. Everything else is just bonus. We're planning to order our own baby sling and then we'll pick up whatever else we need second hand closer to when the baby arrives.

Meander--Congrats on a boy!  We had our big us on Friday and I was 20 wks on Saturday, looks like we are right on the same schedule!

I had mixed feelings over the 20 wk us because I knew it was the last one.  It was actually my 6th ultrasound so I got used to seeing the babe frequently!  We didn't want to find out the sex of the baby but when she was scanning the tailbone my husband and I both thought we saw testicles--but we didn't get a penis glimpse so it's still up in the air.  Honestly I have been hoping for a girl, for a couple of reasons, but I was mostly happy to see that everything looks healthy.  Of course I was a little worried because our baby is measuring bigger than average.  The tech said babies are usually in a 40-60% zone and ours was 66% (it's weighing 12 ounces right now).  My immediate reaction was "omg I'm eating too much!"

We went out with my mom and registered afterwards and it really seemed ridiculous, all of the stuff you need.  It was actually really boring too and by the end of the day I was WIPED.

Our babe was 14oz....YIKES...not only am I packing on the pounds, I'm brewing a big BOY.

We had our anatomy scan today and everything looks really good.  It was so neat for DH and I to see.  It was all really so amazing to watch but the heart was by far the most mystifying thing for us.  Being paramedics and science minded, it was just so cool to see it from all those angles and the chambers and the valves working.  I was in awe the whole time.  The whole process had me in awe.  It's such blessing and a miracle to get to witness something so amazing.

We definitely wanted to find out and the tech said that at 20 weeks it was impossible to hide.  Definitely got a great money shot of his parts.

We were shocked and very excited!  There is only one boy in the family on my husband's side all the other 7 are girls.

Congrats to everyone has found out and has amazing, healthy little (or big) babes.

LOL well we had our u/s at 19 weeks on the dot, and were slightly over 12 oz then. That was two weeks ago now! At 19 weeks, we were measuring at I think 20w3d.

I'm now investigating my natural options for trying to self induce between 38 and 39 weeks - I do NOT want to go overdue if baby is already a week ahead!

WOW Becky, big baby!  Also, I saw a belly shot of you I think on the August thread and you look great!  I think you have a rockin' bod   I also was amazed with the heart during the ultrasound.  Are you and your husband both paramedics?  That is very cool.  I am very interested in anatomy and physiology (although my undergrad is in psychology). 

LivingSky-- I am right there with you with wanting to go early.  A.  I don't want to deliver into August and B. I don't want to push a 9 pound baby out of my vag. 

So I came across something I thought I might share.  I have been getting increasingly annoyed at the fact that I have to buy mat clothes and how expensive they are.  Even when you go somewhere cheaper like Old Navy it still really adds up.  I came across Walmart's mat clothes online yesterday and let me tell you, they are cheap.  I boycotted Walmart many years ago because I don't agree with a lot of their ethics, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.  The downside is, they don't carry in stores, but the upside is you can return to their stores.  I was thrilled to find good summer staples like 2 packs of tank tops for $10, shorts, and some cute summer dresses.  Just thought I would pass it along!

I'm sure you guys know this, but ultrasound estimates of weight are incredibly inaccurate. Don't let those weights send you into a panic! Your baby will be just the right size!

I've had almost 9 lbers every time and done just fine.

You can do it!!

Yell, yes we are both paramedics.  I volunteer for the same fire agency that he works for.  They put me on a leave of absence for a year after they found out I was pg.

My full time job is a pet groomer.  I get to work with dogs and cats all day which is actually quite a lot of work and not all fun and games like everyone thinks.  I love it though and so far I've had no complications lifting etc.  Actually having the smaller belly has worked in my favor up to this point.  

Everyone can't believe that I'm 20 weeks and still have no "real" belly.  I'm still in that in between stage where people notice that I've gained weight but don't dare ask.  In fact I was just talking with a client about it today.  She said she had noticed that I was a bit heavier (20lbs to be exact) but didn't want to say anything rude or guess wrong.

Thanks Sarah   I'm not terribly worried about the size of the babe and hope that it will even out over time.  My sister pushed out 9+ and 10+ babes and she has much smaller hips than me so I should be just fine.

Becky, we are really in the same boat.  My belly is rounding out a little bit this week, but I'm still in the in between stages too - but I've gained a ton of weight.  I've gone from a 34D to a 36DDD and a size 6 to a size 8 maternity.  It's all gone to my boobs and my thighs and my back is looking fat too (weird).  A coworker mentioned my pregnancy in the chart room a couple of days ago (I had told her I was preg) and another coworker was standing there and she was like "I thought maybe you were but I wasn't sure so I didn't want to say anything!"  So that's where I'm at. 

That is neat that you are a pet groomer.  My husband and I are serious animal lovers but we can't have any pets in our apartment--it's a drag.

Yell, Holy boobs!   Hopefully your back can take the adjustment in growth especially when your belly arrives.

I'm a lot like you with the exception of our bust size.  My weight is mostly in my hips--I've got love handles like you wouldn't believe.  My face tends to gain/show weight too which I really don't care for at all.

My boobs have grown from a small B to a full C so there has been some growth there just not as much as you. 

I'm just crazy excited about it all!!!

My little guy was "kickboxing" this morning and it just had me laughing because it's so different from the normal occasional jabs I usually feel.

I'm starting to feel things that I think are the baby, often enough that I can't ignore them all but still not positive which feelings are aby and which ones are just my insides moving shifting!

I'm actually kind of afraid to find out what my bust size is now. I have gained very little weight overall - 4 lbs at last weigh in - and it's pretty much all baby. Body wise I look to have actually lost weight - which is phenomenal as I was a size 16-18 prepregnancy. Now the 1X maternity clothes are too big for me. But I was a 40G bust size before getting pregnant and the girls are definitely bigger now. I can't wear any of my regular underwire bras as they're too small - I've had to swap entirely to my wireless bras and I'm popping out of them. But I'm not willing to buy new bras yet because I'm sure I'll need another set of bras once I'm closer to due date and after the baby is here. I'm trying to make due until May.

Hey ladies!  Just checking in on you!  I've been busy finding out the sex (Girl!) and buying stuff.  I'm in this frantic plan mode and it won't settle down.  No more me time!  Just buy and plan and prepare time!  I started a prenatal yoga class to ease my mind (and my aching body!). 

This little baby of mine is a kicker!  She is getting stronger everyday.  I love feeling the kicks... each one is different and make me smile so big!

Meander~  I could have written this myself.  I would have put MONEY down that we were having a boy.  I was attracted to boy things, I had the boy nursery all planned out, etc, etc.  When she told us it was a girl I was absolutely FLOORED.  I, too, had to shift all of my crafting ideas and nursery themes toward the feminine side.  But now that I'm used to the idea of having a daughter, I am having a *blast*!  She will be the most loved little baby girl in the universe.

OK ladies, this bust issue- I'm going crazy trying to keep myself in bras!  I started out as a (small) B and am now a large C, thinking that soon I might be venturing into D territory (jaw dropping experience!)  How are you dealing with the rapid changes in bra size?!  Are sports bras a better option?  I can't afford to keep buying bras at this rate.  I expected boob growth but this is ridiculous.

Katie, if you can figure out the most cost effective way to do this, let me know!   This has been my biggest struggle.  I've had to buy 2 sets of bras so far.  I know it's not the best option, but I just went to Target a cruised the clearance aisles for my size on clearance.  Sorta cheap bras, but I know they're sort of disposable since I'll be growing out of them.  I found some bras on clearance there for $5 a piece.
