We've given DS crusts too. We have frozen some times, but it's usually just leftovers on crust. what the heck else are you supposed to do with 2 sausage patties, 4 mushrooms half a tomato and thumb sized squares of 8 different blocks of cheese?

I don't believe that refined flour is good for anyone, especially kids. Ever wonder why so many kids get hooked on PBJ's mac and cheese, bread and crackers all the time? Grains are addictive. I do feed my son bread, and other grains occasionally, but it's a treat, not something I give on a regular basis. As far as pizza goes, I try and make a crust with almond flour (he can usually only eat about 1 or 2 pieces and he's done. Same for me. The protein and fat helps prevent overeating. But, that said..making your own at home even with white flour is definitely better then getting take out. The only problem I would see down the road is getting busy, going out to eat and relying on take out pizza because you know DC will eat it. But even then, every once and awhile, not a big deal in my mind! :) Oh, and I don't think pasta is much better!

i know a woman who is a doc and has the same view. although i don't adhere to the view i totally think it's legit. i mean, i know I'M addicted to bread products. i remember a conversation with my mother when we both agreed that we'd take a loaf of crusty french bread over chocolate anytime.

Meh, we eat very well in general, but every couple of months it's pizza day!  He loves it, we love it, whatever.  It's a heck of a lot better then the gerber graduates type crap most people feed their toddlers.

I think a lot just comes back to having confidence in yourself as a parent.  You know what you are feeding your child.  You know that it balances out over the week.

I don't feel guilt even if we eat crappy frozen pizza, or greasy as heck take out.  It's not like we eat it all the time.  Mostly, I make pizza for my boy out of a thick pita and melt cheese on it.

We eat pizza at least once or twice a week. Occasionally I make pizza from scratch (when I do that its half ww/half bread flour), but lately I've taken to buying crusts from a local bakery that are delicious and cheap ($2 each!). And, tbh, I far far, far prefer them to frozen pizza and its honestly just as good as pizza hut IMHO. And only marginally harder (especially using jarred pizza sauce, which I admit is the norm...). I mean, really, how hard is it to turn the oven on, smear some sauce on the dough add toppings and pop in the oven? EASY!

Didn't you know that you should never, ever, feed your child anything that anyone could ever say anything bad about?  Even one slice of pizza means your LO won't get into Yale now!  The horror (clutching my pearls)!!!  wink1.gif

Homemade pizza sounds wonderful though.  Especially the anchovies!

I love Anchovies. This thread makes me hungry.  :)

Yup, this. Could be worse as 'bad' food goes, anyway.

We love pizza here.  And heck, we don't make it from scratch!  No time for that.  It is my go to on karate nights and we usually do Papa Johns, the greasy, no good for you pizza, but they love it and so do I!  Everything in moderation right?!

Ditto... I giggled out loud at that one.

How I make pizza crust. And it's yummy and the 2 year old likes it!

(actually, I generally end up with a cauliflower, broccoli, carrot mix because that's what's sold in the huge bag of frozen veggies from Costco)

And, sorry, I was going to Google for that pizza recipe book, but it turns out there's waaay too many out there. Maybe you'll be able to recognize the picture:

This made me chuckle, DS is really really into "noodles" (ravioli) right now, and I have been making and freezing little ones for him, well long story short, I'm pregnant and things slip through the cracks and we ran out so I picked up one of those trays of the Pasta Pickups.

They are not food. Food for cats perhaps. Not food for people at all. He was really exited about it, so I let him have about 3, then he lost interest and they "accidental" fell in the trash.

I'm definitely going to try that cauliflower crust for my pizzas.  Being gluten-free, there are so many imitations, but it is hard to find something that is actually good and has the right mouth-feel.   (Can you tell I miss delivery pizza?  There is a place that has gf pizza, but it is expensive and not that good.)

That's funny- all the mainstream people I know (well, maybe it's just my family...) thinks pizza = healthy. You know, you have your veggies (tomato sauce), protein, dairy, grains. How much healthier can ya get? eat.gif (j/k)

But really, we do take out pizza sometimes. We eat well most of the time, so it's all good.

I had to laugh. Most people I know don't think pizza OR pasta are healthy because they are refined white flours. We eat homemade pizza on occasiona without issue. And the kids often have whole wheat pasta added to soup whatever to make it more appealling. I don't worry much about either.

yeah, but have you ever tried pasta AND pizza together? total carb-fest. place i used to go to had a "spaghetti and meatball" pizza and i've heard of a mac n' cheese pizza. that would probably blow their minds/

Ya now I'm ravenous.

Like when I forget to eat before buying groceries.

So dangerous.

I haven't had pizza since I realized my ds had a dairy allergy.

He doesn't anymore, and it will so lift my light deprived soul (oh winter) to have some.
