Nervous Nellie about Bellingham Public schools

I was just wondering if anyone has some experience with the Bellingham Public School system either good or bad. I just registered my son at the Parkview Elementary and took a tour. We know nothing about the school system around here and just wanted some info to put my mind at ease.

Hi Shelbi,
I don't have any info on the Bellingham public elementary schools but I did live in Bellingham for four years while attending Western - great town!
What area is your school in? Have you tried posting in the "finding your tribe" section under Washington? You may get more replies that way.
Good luck - I am sure kindergarten will be a blast for both of you!

I live near Bellingham

I have actually just moved to Ferndale from Bellingham (built a house). I don't have children in the public schools but I'm the director of a private Montessori school and know some of the private schools and teachers through W.I.S.E. (Whatcom Independent Schools and Educators).

I used to live near the Birchwood school. Sorry that I can't tell you more than that. Do you have a Moms' group? Do you know people who shop at the coop or Terra Organica? Many of these people have older children who may attend/have attended public schools and can give you information. Everyone I know who attended Bellingham Public schools is grown up now. Though none of them had bad experiences their experience was long enough ago that all of the teachers would be different.

Hey, I'm in Bellingham too! Unfortunately, I can't really help to answer the question, though, because my kids go to the Waldorf school here (which we love, BTW).
