Do you take your infants for walks at 27 degrees?

I usually walk a few times a week, but the temp has gone down drastically these days.

I didnt take my other babies out when it got cold because it was just too hard with both at the same time (2 and under).

Now I have one baby (7 months) during the day and the others are at school. It would be so easy to put her in the snow suit and go for a long walk, but I'm just not sure about it.

How many of you do it?

Oh and I forgot to add- I wouldnt worry about this if I were wearing her, but the point of this walk would be to get a break from that. I wear her all day where ever we go and she is 20 pounds.

Okay......I had to google a farenheit to celcius converter to figure this out! I would absolutely bring my baby out in 27 degree weather......that's is -2c and around here (Northern Canada) that would be like a heat wave to us. I would just put on the snowsuit, cover with a blanket and go.

I think 27 degrees is fine weather for a walk. Warm clothes, a hat and a blanket should be fine.

I was just out with my 1 month old and 3 year old and it's -7 celcius here (-13 with windchill).  This is a nice warm winter day lol.  My babe was toasty warm the whole time.  I'm not comfortable babywearing outside for winter walks because of all the ice, so I load up her stroller with blankets and pop her in a snowsuit and she is warmer than I am that is for sure.  So yes, 27 degrees is a nice temperature to take your infant for a winter walk.

I agree with the other posters.  Snowsuit, load her up with blankets.... it'll probably be awesome.  I see people plain draping blankets over their buggies too sometimes... I bet that's toasty for the kiddos.

Mmm -2C is lovely winter weather up here! Do you have a good weather shield for your stroller? Ours is great (Baby Jogger) - nice thick plastic and it really cuts the wind. My BIL lives in Norway and in scandinavia it is very normal to put babies into their stroller and put them outside on the balcony or patio to nap in the winter. They are fairly bundled, although maybe not as much as you think. They often line the carriage with a lambskin. Also - it is common to see a line of strollers with sleeping babies outside of stores as their parents are inside shopping! Oh, how I've wished to do that here, but too much worry that someone would call CAS on me - DS wakes up when I bring him into a hot store when he's all bundled up in the winter.

A few weeks ago ds fell asleep in the sled when I took him for a walk.  I left him outside to finish his nap, and he was fine.  I think it's really good for them!  It was sunny, but below freezing for sure.

I put full long underwear that is wool, pants and shirt, sweater and snow suit and wrap in a blanket and we are off.

I don't live anywhere as cold as many of the PP, but I also say, walk away!  I'm in charge of the evening dog walk, and I just bundle up my 3 month old, strap her to me (I'm too uncoordinated to push a stroller and walk a dog lol.gif), and off we go.  It's been pretty frigid around here lately, but between her layers, the moby wrap, and the suse kinder coat, everything but her cheeks are toasty warm!

Heck yeah, if it got up to 27, we'd totally go for a walk.

I need to get out daily or I go a little batty. It has been between 10 and 25 for a few weeks now, and I walk the older girls to school, we go to the coffee shop, or to a friends. I put baby in a footed pajamas and a hat, put her in the carrier, button my jacket around both of us, and put the older girls in the jogging stroller (in their winter gear).

it got up to 30 today and even though we both had headcolds we HAD to go out for a walk because it was so "nice" out. i've heard that babies actually regulate body temperature far better than adults.

Yes, I have many times.  I don't really worry until the wind chill gets below 0 F.  If it's a cold cutting wind, I'd drape a nice thick blanket over the front of the stroller to help keep the babe warm (also, of course bundle baby up and put blankets over and under the baby in the stroller).  My babies, especially dd, hated getting driving rain or snow on their faces, and even wind sometimes, so I resorted to the draped stroller many times.  Babies are tough -- just watch exposed skin, fingers, and toes if you're out in very cold weather for an extended period.

I'll be the other end of the spectrum.  The high today is 28, and we're not going anywhere outside.  It's way too cold for us, and we're staying inside.  However, and this is a big however, it'll be back in the 50s by this weekend (normal weather), so really cold weather never lasts more than 2 or 3 days for us.

Yep!  I would and have.  Just bundle up.  In case the kiddo wanted to nurse, I just brought a small blanket for my breast.
