Talk to me about leaking...

(Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Birth and Beyond)

My only experiences with SROM (and AROM, I guess) have been gushing.

Today (38w), I feel like I might have some minor leaking of sorts, but it may just be basic secretions.  No color at all (I've been using white diaper inserts), no foul smell, but I also wouldn't necessarily call it sweet... I don't think.

I did try a basic ph strip, but there was no reaction. (Used tap water and apple juice as controls with slight reactions)  I know that's not conclusive, but I had to try.

I also haven't had any good contractions since yesterday.  Baby is moving a *tad* bit less, but not alarmingly so.  He's rolling a bit right now.

The thing is, my mw office is an hour away.  And it's snowing.  Not majorly, but enough to make a trip out there a decent sized hassle.  And my ds has play practice in half an hour.

So, WWYD?

I think at the very least put a call in and see what she thinks.

when my water broke it was also a trickle and not a gush and contractions never started. i was just able to tell based on how it was coming out. i don't remember exactly how it went but i think i remember it increasing as i changed positions. like, lying down or sitting you wouldn't feel it but you would feel a leak then upon standing up. it may have leaked more when walking around. good call on using a white layer down there. i wasn't thinking and just used a colored washcloth and i wouldn't have noticed meconium had it not been that i checked myself in and started using the hospital's white pads.

My water broke well before ctx started (the started them with pit) If I had it to do again, I would sit around on towels and wait for contractions to start.

If you are just 'dripping' it may seal it's self back up. I have heard of that before. I woke up to "Crap, I just peed my pants, wait, that's not pee" and it was my first so I thought labor would be following quickly. I SHOULD have eaten breakfast, let my husband finish vacuuming (yeah, he decided it was time to vacuume because the house wasn't ready to bring the baby home lol.gif it was a little early at 37w) and watched the news or something. Pit contractions are a bummer.

Yeah, for me it just felt like I peed a little.  After this happened several times, I decided it was my water and then I started having ctx.

I finally spoke to my mw (I put off calling for 24 hours 2whistle.gif), and she and I agreed that it's *probably* not amniotic fluid.  I am going to keep an eye on things, and if I'm still concerned tomorrow, I'll go in for the fern test.

Fortunately, my GBS did come back negative, so that's one less thing to worry about!
