ride on toy and carpet- waste of money?

I had wanted to get a ride on toy for ds2 and was considering this one

However, is there much point to getting a ride on toy if most of your house is carpeted?  The only places with smooth floor are the kitchen (which is quite large) and a little "mudroom" off the kitchen where there is a bit of space if I moved the rugs off.

Any thoughts?  Waste of money if you don't have hard wood floors throughout?

TIA!

With the size of wheels on that one it may be a waste.  Maybe find one that has larger wheels so that it would work better on carpet.

i dunno....my kiddo is on the shorter side so she still doesn't reach the ground so well on her riding toy. since she's had it she has to kind of sit side-saddle and push with one foot so it doesn't really go that fast or speed around the house even though we have wood floors. still, it's her favorite toy by far.

Is it really plush carpet, or hard rental stuff?  My daughter loves her ride on toy (I don't know what it is.... we found it on the side of the road, and she loves it so much we never tried to replace it... it looks like it might have been a bird, but the beak fell off).  Even before she could walk, she would toddle around pushing it on the carpet (hard rental stuff).  We have hardwood plus a plush rug now at our new place and she still rides the toy on the rug.
