Moby on the outside of my jacket?

My poor son,he got stuck in the Moby and my jacket yesterday when my darn zipper broke when I was trying to undo my coat! I had to use a fork to unzip us!

Can I wear the Moby on the outside of my jacket? I'm clueless about this and keeping him warm at the same time. He has a big fluffy snow suit but I'd hate to try and get him into the Moby while wearing that. I just don't see it fitting well. Has anyone done this?

I think it is important to wrap your baby to your body, not to outer wear.  Outer wear often has slick surfaces that would change the shoulders of a wrap and you may not feel it because of the loft of the coat jacket. This could create a safety issue for baby. As well shared body heat in cloder climates can avoid issues related to exposure.

Honestly I would not.  I have tried it with all manner of baby carriers (woven wrap, narrow pod to name a few) and it is just not comfortable.  It's harder to get wrapped over my outerwear and DD's... Plus I feel like it's not as warm either.

I would look for a new jacket?  Or I recently made a babywearing coat with a zip in panel by taking three identical $10 old navy fleeces, and using one for the jacket, one for the panel, and the third to add the matching zipper down the back so I could use it with front and back carries.  If you can sew four straight lines, you can have a babywearing fleece (or coat if you do it with a real coat).

The Pps have valid points, but thought i would bring up another.

You're running errands and its 35F outside. You put on your coat, then the Moby and walk into a business. They keep their thermostat at 70F. Within moments, you're overheated and sweating, yet you can't easily get your coat off. By the time you leave 5 or 10 minutes later, you're about ready to pass out and your clothes are sweat-soaked.
