Has anyone heard from her?  still wondering how little gavin is holding up and praying it's great news...

I hope they're both doing okay!

I don't want to say too much because I don't know what she wants to share but Gavin is having a really hard time.  They are having a lot of trouble getting his seizures to stop and they are currently back in the hospital.  I will try and keep you guys posted.

So sorry to hear this :(. Sending big hugs and get well soon vibes to mistymama - and little Gavin.

:(  I'm sorry to hear that.  My dd2 had seizures, it was so scary.  I'll be praying for them.  grouphug.gif

I was thinking that maybe we could all do something practical to help mistymama at this time? Something like, a gift of prepared meal delivery vouchers? There's a service called 'Send a Meal' (http://www.sendameal.com) that delivers prepared meals to your door -  you just have to put them in the oven to cook Perhaps we could all throw in a few dollars and purchase a gift certificate for mistymama? That way, she can eat good meals but doesn't have to take the time or energy to prepare them. A friend of mine who just went through a prolonged period of chemo for breast cancer was given a similar gift by a friend, and REALLY appreciated it. The last thing you feel like doing when you're sick or worried is cooking, right? I'm happy to coordinate this (via Paypal, perhaps), although I may need your help chely7425, to obtain an email address for mistymama. What does everyone think? Open to other suggestions, too....

I would be happy to help organize this :)  Just let me know what I need to do.  I spoke to her yesterday on FB and she gave me the ok to share a bit more information with you guys, as well as to pass along any info from now on.

Gavin has infantile spasms, and so far they have been unable to find a medication to control them.  He is still in hospital on oxygen.  His kidney and liver functions are still ok, but they are meeting with a GI specialist.  Right now he is having trouble getting rid of extra fluid in his body as well.  This is all very hard for the entire family, including older brother Alex.  I will keep everyone updated, Candace just isn't in a place where she can be here right now.  She says it would be too hard to see all the healthy babies when they know Gavin will have lifelong complications.   Please keep her and Gavin and their whole family in your thoughts and prayers.

I would love to contribute to the meals idea, I think that's wonderful.  I know when my dd2 was in the NICU the last thing I wanted to worry about was dinner.  I'm so sad to hear Gavin is not doing well.  It breaks my heart :(  I'm sure we all understand why it would be hard for her to be here.  Let her know we're thinking of her and her family and praying for them.

I was looking at that site, this one is 5 days of meals http://www.sendameal.com/inc/sdetail/12296 for $178.45 (idk if that includes shipping?)  If we could get 10 people to contribute, that would be about $18 a person.  I know money is super tight for us with dh still only working part time, but we could swing that amount (I try to donate $15 a week to charity, plus $10 to church, anyway!)

I think given the recent developments with Gavin we might be better off doing some sort of gift card?  They aren't at home, and I know from my friends who have had kids in the hospital one of the biggest expenses is eating out all the time. Perhaps a restaurant gift card or visa gift card to help out with their food expenses might be better?  Plus, I think Alex might have some food sensitivities (though I am not 100% sure on that one)...

I agree - I think a Visa gift card is a great idea. That way, they can use it anywhere. I am happy to accept contributions via Paypal to my account and then pay for the card that way - chely7425, do you have an address we could mail this to, or a Paypal that you'd like to use instead?

I will get in touch with her and figure out where she would like it sent :)  I would be happy to use my PP to do it, then I can just send the gift card straight out.  My PP email is rachel_johnstone720@msn.com for anyone that wants to contribute.

Thanks for taking care of this. Let's keep this thread bumped so as many people as possible have the opportunity to contribute.
