I volunteered to get gifts for children represented by our local Guardian Ad Litem program, which represents abused and neglected children in the court system. I was assigned 11 year old boy/girl twins. They just joined the program and were in a shelter as of last week. Because they are new, all they could tell me about the kids is their age and race (AA). My kids are younger and I am struggling with ideas, esp. for the boy. Clothes are out since I don't know sizes. I also feel like I can't get music, since I don't know about Mp3 or CD player access. I am not sure about books, since I don't know their interests or reading level. I am meant to buy 3 gifts for each of them.Â

For the girl, I am thinking about a set with lotions, lip gloss, etc, maybe a nice purse and a diary? I am stumped for the boy. Sports stuff? I hate to be so gender-biased! We live in a town that is NUTS for our college football team, so I think for most kids anything with our mascot on it would be ok. Otherwise, all I can come up with is video games, which I am not sure are affordable.

Any help is much appreciated. I volunteered last minute and need to buy this stuff today!!!
