Talk to me about a glider/rocker - Page 2

I have a glider and will be buying something new that reclines for my next child. My glider is great but oh the hours upon hours I spent in the middle of the night holding my daughter when she was a baby....if I had a recliner I could have gotten some more shut eye.

Reclining is key!!

I also hate the look of gliders. I ended up buying one from kijiji for $25 with an ottoman.

We had a lot of problems breastfeeding DD at first and the glider was the WORST possible chair to do it in. My IBCLC said they are universally bad for perfect positioning. We only used it to rock DD in, never to nurse.

DS, however has been an awesome nurser from the get go and I've nursed him in it from the beginning.

FWIW, mine does have wood arms and i don't find them problematic. In fact i am quite glad it's mianly wood because DS was a super-reflux baby (thin 3 cups of milk at a time!) so it is easily wiped down.

I got a glider because I thought I needed a glider or rocker for a baby. It was so hard trying to nurse dd in it when she was first born. The MW even commented that it was too narrow. I usually nursed her on the couch or bed. She fell asleep while being rocked in the chair about ten times max. It was much easier to get her to sleep by wearing her in a wrap and walking around. So, for us it wasn't a good purchase, but it appears we are in the minority.

I feel like I"ve tried everything-- rocking recliner, glider, bentwood rocking chair, bouncy ball etc. My parents even moved their porch swing into their living room.

We ended up purchasing 3 shermag gliders over the last year or so-- one for upstairs, one for downstairs and one for my parents. The lazy boy roclking recliner types are made for bigger, taller people and were so, so, so very uncomfortable for nursing post partum. The bentwood has a deep rock, and is difficult to get in and out of. The gliders (although fugly) are like heaven. We paid $150 apeice, and they are the only way my son goes to sleep.

If I had bigger budget, I'd get a dutalier reclining glider, so we could sleep in it too!

Evidently, the "maverick" though is there best selling/most popular model. Good luck!

i just got the same chair a couple months ago.  dd2 was in an "only sleep over my shoulder" stage.  i spent many a night in that chair.  everyone in my family loves the chair.  dh loves to read/nap in it.  dd1 even made a schedule for when everyone gets to sit in it.

i'm so glad we got a recliner instead of a glider.
