Anyone's first U/S not look so good, but then have a major come back???

I'm supposedly 6wks 2 days pregnant after our first IVF and yesterday we went in for our first U/S and the Dr. found the sac which showed blood flow and you could see the baby just slightly, but he said it was really tucked tight into the side of the uterus so was really hard to see.  He said for 6wks it is smaller than normal and wanted me to have another U/S next week on Tues or Wed to see if there was any change.  I also had more blood drawn for another HCG and TSH too.  So I'm looking for your story!!!! TIA!

My first was conceived through IUI. We had an ultrasound around 6 weeks to check on the position and viability of the pregnancy. We saw a heartbeat but he measured 4 days behind where I was. We were told that it could be a bad sign or it could mean nothing. So we went back for an 8 week ultrasound and he then measured just one day behind. He turned two years old this fall.

Infertility is stressful as is being pregnant after infertility. Hope you get some great news next week.

Thanks for sharing your story allisonronse!!!  I'm just looking for some hope!!  I did get my HCG levels back (12,000) and the Dr. said they were good so that is a positive thing.  Next U/S is on Tues next week.

Yeah, HCG levels are a whole other story of torture. Mine started low: around 50 or 60. They didn't quite double 48 hours later so I had to do a third blood draw which did double so my fertility clinic decided was satisfactory.

It's such a roller coaster. I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday!

With my ds I had an early ultrasound that showed him "too small" for his gestational age (I think he measured like a week too small). I went back a weekish later for a follow up ultrasound and he measured right on where he should have. He was born at 39 weeks at almost 9lbs thumb.gif I think sometimes it's just hard for the doctor/us tech to see exactly what's going on in there. Unfortunately it causes mamas unnecessary stress at times.

With 2 of my 3 babies, we had a bad ultrasound and a good outcome.  With my son, they said I would  likely miscarry him because he was small for gestational age during a series of multiple 1st tri ultrasounds...he was born at 40 weeks at 6 lbs 15 oz, and even at 7 years old, he's at the 3rd percentile.  So, he was just always small.

With my DD, they couldn't find a heartbeat, she was small for gestational age, AND the hospital messed up on the HCG test and somehow had her HCG as decreasing in the test results, so they said I was already miscarrying.  The next day, I went to a different hospital, her HCG was double with the first hospital said, AND they found her heartbeat.  She's currently 23 months old (tomorrow) and sleeping on my lap.

First off, thanks ladies for all your responses and for sharing your personal experiences.  Sorry it took me so long to get back here to update, but I went in on Tues for the 2nd U/S and the little tiny babe that was there a week ago was totally gone, but the sac was bigger so it looks like we are going to miscarry! greensad.gif  The Dr that consulted on the U/S (my high risk Dr.) said I have 3 options... either wait it out (which could be up to a month he said), take some pill to speed it up, or have a D & C.  Still trying to figure that one out... I'm seeing my OBGYN tomorrow to see what she says.  Thanks again for your stories and I'm glad things worked out for the best for you all!!!

Thanks ladies!!! I really don't think it has hit me yet b/c I haven't even started to bleed.  I have one more U/S on Monday just to make sure there isn't a little miracle in there (not getting my hopes up...it was the IVF office that suggested it before we do anything) and then I will have to figure out when to start the drug Cytotec to help move things along.  We will see.

I am so sorry (((hugs)))... I pray for a miracle for you, but if not, I hope your next little bean will be a sticky! Sending you lots of sticky dust...
