Hello everyone I was just prescibed my first round of Clomid 50 mgs and I was wondering if I can take it at night instead of during the day just to minimize any side effects. Today is CD3 for me so today I will be taking my first pill...any advice, suggestions, or success stories are greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Clomid
This is my first cycle of Clomid, so I don't have much experience with it.
Â
I did a lot of research online, and pretty much everyone recommended taking it at night so most of the side effects are while you are asleep. I took mine at 8pm every night, and I didn't have any problems. I did have a few mood swings, but as long as I made a conscious effort, it was okay. Also, a lot of ladies say it can dry up your CM. I made sure to drink A LOT of water (around 100 ounces) to counteract any potential CM issues, and actually I had more EWCM than I had in previous cycle... I guess the water helped!Â
Â
Good luck to you! I hope one cycle is all you need (and me too). :)

Yup you can take it at night. :)Â I don't, cause it keeps me up all night, but most women do.
Â
success stories? Still in the 2ww this time but here's my history:
Â

ttc#2, bfp on the first clomid cycle on 50mg 5-9, chemical
bfn on the second clomid cycle on 50mg 3-7
bfp on the third clomid cycle, 100mg 3-7, lost Riley at 12 weeks
bfp on fourth clomid cycle, 50mg 5-9, dd2
ttc#3 bfn on first clomid cycle, 50mg 3-7, late O (odd for me)
bfp on second clomid cycle, 50mg 3-7, dd3
ttc#4: this is my first cycle, 50mg 3-7, so we'll see!

I have a progesterone deficiency (severe LPD) and took prometrium on the last four of those cycles. I'm really nervous my luck has run out lol

Good luck to you! Pm me if you have any questions!
Thanks for your reply Val and I have heard about it drying up CM and some people say to drink grapefruit juice around ovulation time and that will help but I don't know for sure. Well today I took my first Clomid pill and its CD 3 for me...are you in the 2ww already? Maybe we can keep eachother posted on how we are doing and hopefully share the excitement of our BFPs! ![]()
Jilly I am so sorry for your losses but I am glad you have had success with Clomid and on the first try too. I hope I only need one cycle to get pregnant because my hubby and I have been trying for over 5 years. I have PCOS and don't ovulate so I hope the Clomid really works for me. I hope you get your BFP this month too, it would be an awesome Christmas present. Well like I told Val we should keep eachother posted to see how we are doing...Ah I'm so excited! ![]()

I took one cycle of clomid (50mg) to conceive ds. I am now on cycle #5 (only 3 ovulatory) ttc#2. I have taken clomid at different times of day. For me I tend to be more regular with doing things in the evening so that is how I started out but the clomid REALLY impacted my sleep (could NOT fall asleep the days I was taking it) so I switched to a morning schedule which made the difference.

I hadn't heard that about the grapefruit juice... I'll have to research it, if the water quits working for me. And yep, I'm in my 2WW - currently 5dpo. Here's a link to my chart, if you are interested. www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2e5d89

Definitely keep me posted on how it works for you, and I'll keep you posted on how my cycle works out. I also have a blocked fallopian tube, though, so even if it doesn't work this cycle it could be because I O'ed on the wrong side. I'm going for my 7dpo bloodwork on Monday, so I'll find out soon if the dosage was correct.Â

I did Clomid, taking it at night.  I had no issues from it.
Â
My OB had me do it days 3 - 8, and we were fortunate that the first cycle resulted in DD.
Â
Also, on day 8, I began taking estrogen in the morning. I took the estrogen for several days (can't recall exactly). So, day 8 was the first estrogen in the AM, and the last clomid before bed. OB said the estrogen was to counteract drying out. I wasn't dry at all, so it certainly worked.
Â
Â
Some notes:
Â
I was ovulating on my own, but had wonky LPs, and had been unsuccessful on our own for 8 months, timing.  Previously, I had gotten pregnant very easily without medical assistance (two boys).Â

I have PCOS, without clomid I ovulate every 3-4 months. Â I am on my sixth cycle on clomid. Â All 6 times I have ovulated, 5 BFNs, this cycle we also did an IUI, waiting to find out if it worked. Â I took it at night the first month because of what I read about side effects, but I am lactose intolerant and the gas pain from the lactose in the pills kept me up, so now I take it in the morning. Â I don't have many side effects, just some hot flashes. Â

Princess you can definitely take it at night. I never get side effects though.
Â
AMiG that's teh thing about clomid. If it's gonna work, it tends to work fast. There are tons of sucess stories first cycle trying. Me personally it took 5 to get DS, and 4 to get the pg I lost. But most mos tof that was spent wasted on 50mgs. I need 100.
