can you reuse those foaming soap dispensers?

So the foaming hand soap thingey is much better for my 6yo... instead of using like a half a cup of soap (exaggerating of course). Can you just open it up and refill with dr bronners or similar soap? do you need special soap? I usually buy stuff like that in bulk to save $$ and packaging.

We reuse ours - I fill it about 1/4 full with Dr. Bronners and then the rest with water. It works great.

We do the same thing with Dr. Bronner's soap.  I've found my hands don't dry out as much using this too.

I've done it with Dr B's, dish soap & baby wash. You just have to water it down a little to get it to foam up.

I do this and have found that the Method foaming pumps lasts much longer than the other brands.  I fill them 1/3 with Dr. B's and the rest with water :)

I do it with whatever dish soap I have on hand, dawn, off brand, etc. I usually get a set every year during a sale from bath and body works.

We do the same, except only use a few squirts of Dr. Bronners.  It doesn't take much at all.

Exactly the same here!!!!  thumb.gif

I just bought a foaming soap refill. It's more watery than regular hand soap, so the watered down Dr. Bronner's makes sense, too. It definitely lasts longer than the creamy hand soaps.

I have been doing this for the last year.  I use a 10:1 of water to soap.  Lasts forever!!

yep, we do this!  I bought the kandoo brand frog one for the kids.  the soap it came with smelled gross but I use whatever I have and it works fine.  I often just use dish soap, about a tablespoon.

Yup we do this also with Dr. Bronner's - about 1 to 4 or 1 to 5 soap-to-water ratio.  Lasts forever, smells nice, and you don't have soap gunk stuck between your fingers and stuff.

Sometimes it can get clogged up (I think this is with any soap dispenser) and either not come out normally or the pump refuses to go back up.  If that happens fill up a cup with hot water, remove the pump part, stick the bottom in the cup of hot water and squirt it for a while.  That seems to clear up any clogs.

Yes! They are a great way to make soap last a long time! I buy a $1 refill soap container from the dollar store and put a tablespoon or two of it in the foam soap dispenser.

If you use Dr. Bronners', don't go higher than 1/5th soap, 4/5ths water -- it clogs up the mechanism faster.

Also, if you have (even slightly) hard water, using distilled water will keep the solution clear and pretty...

Us too. Only use a little of dr bronners and lots of water. I love how I can make a container of hat stiff last forever by diluting it! smile.gif

"hat stiff" = "that stuff" in the above post. ....can you tell I'm typing on my phone??? Lol

Dr Bronners is expensive here so I use the method normal refill but also watered down, about a 1/4 and the rest water.

I LOVe doing tghis..I can put a spoonful of soap in with water, and give it to the kids and let them just pump to their hearts content in the bathtub!

great idea...i think i might try this with the expensive california baby soap that i love but try not to buy b/c it is $$$$

We do the same with method pump containers, & methods soap (Dr. B's is too drying for me on my skin) I use typically 1/4 soap and then water.  I've had my containers for well over 2 years and they are still going strong!

This also works great for concentrated dishsoap - again 1/4-1/3 soap and then water, and makes it last so much longer for your $$.
