What holiday songs completey tears you up?

So tis the season and I have the radio on and its playing Christmas songs.  I just heard "Christmas shoes" and I completely broke down.  Prior to having kids I don't think it would have affected me as much but now....mecry.gif

(I do love the song :) but I hate it when it comes on when I'm driving...)  Here's a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a_Y1wAJ2MU

So what other holiday songs really get to you?

LOL...sorry, Christmas Shoes is my all time pet peeve...I really dislike the fact they call it a Christmas song--the kid's mom dies on Christmas Eve...that doesn't scream "Merry Christmas" at all to me!   I always feel so bad for the little boy because Christmas will always be ruined for him now. :(  I have to turn it off every time it comes on (maybe it's because it's every parent's big fear to leave their kids behind...I don't know...)

Steven Curtis Chapman writes another really sad one...All I Really Want.  I don't really consider it a Christmas song either, even though it's about Christmas and they only play it this time of year (it's a song about an orphan who really wants a home for Christmas and never gets it)

I do love Merry Christmas, by Third Day.  It's really sad in the beginning, and not too Christmasy, but you really have to make it to the last verse...

Yes!  On both accounts. LOL

The video that someone made for it is silly but the song is the absolute saddest Christmas song in the history of time.  It was on some Christmas compilation one year and my mom made us listen to it all the time:  "The Cat Carol"

Oh, this Dido song was on the same CD and is pretty and quite sad: "Christmas Day"

That was a sad Christmas CD gloomy.gif

The Little Drummer Boy...hands down.

And I'm not a big fan the Christmas Shoes song either.  It feels too contrived.

Little Drummer Boy for me too.  I listen to that song all year long.

Baby It's Cold Outside makes me think of date rape.  I hate that song.

Silent Night & Away in a Manger.

Totally hate Christmas Shoes....have to change channels when it's on.

Baby it's Cold Outside....LOVE IT.  I know the lyrics are a little creepy, but I just tell myself that it's really old and he wasn't really pressuring her into doing anything inappropriate.

What makes me teary?  Same Old Lang Syne.  I know.....I'm weird.

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that!! The creepiest lines are "Say, what's in this drink?" and "What's the sense in hurting my pride?"

I still like the song though because of the scene in Elf and the scene in last week's Glee :D

Little Drummer Boy - been teary eyed at work humming it. I just bought my 9-month old a board book with that in it....

I am a poor boy, too "ba rumpa ba bum......" (sad, sad, sad - but I love the song).

I cannot place Christmas Shoes?

And I really like the Holly and the Ivy - which I listen to all year. I like the rhythm of that song.

O' Holy Night sung by Bing Crosby. Love it!

Hate, hate, hate the Christmas shoes song.  Of course, I also hate Precious Moments figurines and I consider that song on a par w/ Precious Moments.

I guess that would make me weird too then smile.gif

For Christmas songs it's Little Drummer Boy but, since having a baby, pretty much anyone will do it eyesroll.gif

Yeah, that song bugs me, too, but I keep myself from getting worked up over it by thinking that they are in love and just flirting.

Auld Lang Syne brings tears to my eyes...

"We, too, have run about the slopes

and picked the daisies fine,

but we've wandered a many weary foot

since auld lang syne"

This is the season I "take a cup o'kindness" so to speak, for those who have come and gone and made a mark on my life *sniff*

I am obsessed with The Cat Carol.  I think it is supposed to be a little ironic, though, with the crying reindeer and all.  Poor kitty, though greensad.gif

I was just at the library and noticed that they have a Christmas display of seasonal books.  Did you all know that there is an ACTUAL novel out there based on the song "Christmas shoes"?  It goes by the same name.  I forgot who wrote it though, but its based on the song.

I was thinking of checking it out but I figured that if the song gets to me each time I hear it, I didn't want to have any further meaning attached to it, yk?
