When to take the plunge for nighttime underwear?

DS1 has been dry at night all week. At what point to I need to just suck it up and put him to bed in his underwear?

I just have the feeling that the first night I do it, I'll end up washing sheets... cuz isn't that the way it always works? winky.gif We don't have a lot of spare sheets, so a bedwetting pretty much means immediate washing; it's not like we can just put them in the laundry hamper and put a spare set on the bed.

He wants to wear underwear at night, but isn't traumatized by diapers; he actually finds it kind of funny.

I would say it is time to try. And I would go ahead and get an extra set of sheets if you can, the cost is probably about the same as a box of diapers?

I wish I had thought of this when we were in Anchorage last week! I'm not sure I want to know how much a new set of sheets costs at our local store out here.

We can just make do, strip the sheets off the guest bedroom bed or the top bunk of DS1's bed. I just realized we *DO* have spare sheets, they're just on unused beds. Undies it is! We can always go back if it doesn't work since he doesn't seem to find diapers to be an affront to his toddler manhood or anything.

IDK... ds1 is nearly 4 and when DH puts him to bed he doesn't put a dipe on... but when I put him to bed I do. Honestly though, he hasn't wet the bed yet w/o a diaper... but it means that first thing int he morning I *HAVE* to get up and get him downstairs ASAP to go potty... which I would often just rather not do! (My personal preference is to wake up and lie in bed and read for a while an let them play upstairs...)

Sounds like it's time. I also put towels folded over under ds some nights (like this week when he was sick & I thought he might wet) & often (ok - he rarely wets) that is enough which saves me washing all the bedding.

My daughter wanted out of dipes, and I told her if she was dry for a week, I would let her sleep in undies.  She did her week, and I put a plastic sheet under the regular sheets to save the mattress just in case.  She never looked back!

We all do our "morning pee" first thing together, though.

Yep. Give it a try. Expect accidents. And I wou,d buy two more sets of sheets.

Also you need to be prepared to do the morning hustle to the potty. No snuggles. No sleeping in. Straight to the potty.

I find that taking dd right before I  go to bed does wonders.

We use Priva bed pads that I found at our local CVS. They are huge and totally waterproof with a comfy cotton top. If you aren't wool sensitive (I hate prickles!) there are snazzy organic options available online. I have 3. Which allows for one accident, one time being convinced that she couldn't possibly have to pee again tonight....darnit...

Well, he's in bed (YEEK! How did it get to be 10pm? Whoops). Of course, we had pizza, and he shared DH's side, which had bacon on it, and was therefore even more salty than regular pizza... so he was very thirsty.

This is going to be a disaster ;-).
