I miss nursing...will I miss the poop?

We're weaned...my son is nearly two. But now I'm feeling ultra-nostalgic for our nursing days. Bittersweet. Parenthood is chock-full of paradox. I'd love to inch towards the potty next, though for several reasons -- including waiting to move back to the US where urinating in the street is not the norm -- I'm proceeding very slowly.

Anyway, when I do, I suppose I'll miss changing diapers too. Sound about right for anyone else?

Well... Not me! The seven months between when ds1 PLed and when ds2 was born were like a heavenly retreat.

DS is 2, not weaned but potty trained.  I do not miss changing diapers :)

depends on when you live !!!!

where I live now, there are fewer public bathrooms than in the US

SO, getting out and about with a newly potty trained child CAN be difficult as in .... where is the next bathroom available if I do such errand or plan such and such outing ????

the time when I only had my first child to care about AND said child still in diapers .... I felt really "free" to plan going here, there and everywhere ....

so I can relate to missing changing diapers !

I didn't miss the poop or the pee. And we do pee on the street on occasion, with nary a nasty look. Of course it isn't like *I* am pee'ing on the street.

And just Sunday my 3.5 (potty learned for almost a year) needed to poop with bad timing and did so nicely using a makeshift potty of his Halloween trick or treat pumpkin a fleece pocket diaper liner on the rough bit. MUCH better than poopy underpants.

Is diaper changing time a bonding time for the two of you?  I could see where someone who had lots of sweet diaper changing memories and/or routines would maybe miss that time.  But, I personally have more fond memories now of my DD sitting on the big potty cracking 2-year-old style jokes and asking for a book to read while she pooped  lol.gif that I ever did of changing diapers on a squirming toddler.

ds is pl'd but not weaned and I do miss diapers--I made most of ours and there was a certain learning curve there, so it makes me sad that now that I FINALLY got good at making the covers, I'll probably never make another one or else I'll forget how. I also love the bamboo fleece and hemp terry I'll never get to play with again and no one will ever believe my "little secret" about how cheap it can be to make flats out of old flannel sheets. ds is my last baby, so of course the milestones are going to be bittersweet, but it's still pretty ridiculous that his diapers are sitting abandoned in the changing area because I haven't been able to bring myself to pack them up and mail them off to a friend who needs them. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
