Ignoring them is the worst thing you can do to them.  What they are looking for is a reaction.  They have sued for being denied their rights of free speech.  The lawsuit against them was overturned and it looks like the family was ordered to pay their legal expenses.  Check out the wiki page on them...it's pretty accurate.

Hi ladies, I wanted to post to ask you to keep this on the religious studies aspects of this church, and not on the News & Current Events bits.

If you wish to discuss Activism against the WBC, please take it to Activism.  If you want to discuss the church itself, and it's actions, that would belong in N&CE.

Because of the religious discussion, this thread doesn't fit in N&CE currently, but I would like to see it stay on topic for Religious Studies. :)

Thanks.

Sure, but can you honestly expect grieving people to have the presence of mind to ignore people who are chanting hateful things about their dead children? It's a lot of pressure to put people under. I'm truly surprised the WBC picketers don't get socked in the jaw more often.

That Wiki page was... ah... illuminating. Especially the bit where two of the church members admitted that they'd do their protesting even if they didn't believe it was God's will. Classy.
