Digital camera's: Lithium or rechargeable AA batteries?

Is it ok to get a digital camera that takes rechargable AA batteries instead of a lithium battery?  The salesman said that a lithium camera would be better but I don't see that it matters too much (as long as you carry extra recharged batteries with you.)

 

What do you think?

 

I'm putting a cheap digital camera on my Wish List for Christmas (although I'm not sure if my son's father would actually buy it for me.)

in my experience, the lithium battery holds a charge longer and my camera responds much faster than with rechargables.

I have both, the lithium is by far the least pain in the butt of the two.

Sorry I didn't update!  I ended up getting the lithium battery (yay for winning a gift card!)
