#1 he DOES NOT 'deliver' your baby. YOU DO!!! Nobody needs to give a darn as to his comfort. It's all about you, mama, and YOUR comfort.
#2 Labor at home as long as possible. Start checking your cervix now so you know what it feels like and this way you can check your progress as labor goes. Get some sterile gloves (any drugstore will have them) in case your water breaks and you need to check yourself. Do not go to the hospital until you are ready to deliver.
#3 When truly active labor begins, get into the bathtub or heat up a big pot of water and some clean towels and use them for a perineal compress. The water, either from the tub or the towels will help keep your tissues soft and reduce the likelihood of tearing. You can also apply some plain olive oil to your perineum to help soften the tissues.
