I've been CDing my new DS for the past 4 months, and just decided to switch over my DD pre-schooler who is daytime potty learned to cloth as well. I just bought the next size up prefolds for DS, and got a few toddler sized prefolds for my DD as well. She loves her new "flower diapers" as she calls them (I got a cute flowered cover for her)

She has HORRIBLE smelling pee!!! I thought before that it was the smell of the disposables she was wearing, but now that she's in cloth, I can tell its her pee. I prepped and have been washing both of the kids diapers together, and DS diapers don't smell at all, so I don't think its not a diaper issue, rather what's going into the diapers. I never had diaper pail smell before, but now when you open the pail you about get knocked over by nasty odor and ammonia smell. Its just awful :(
Â
What could be causing this? Since I don't think its a diaper issue, this might not exactly belong in the diapering forum, but I am sorely tempted to go back to sposies with DD because even though it still stinks, at least I can get rid of the smell quickly by getting rid of the diaper. Â

I think she gets enough water to drink. She takes a Whole Foods brand kids multi vitamin, and due to allergies is on Zyrtec and sometimes Benadryl. Other than that, she eats a fairly balanced diet. Is there anything I can add/take away from her diet to change things?

Barring being able to change the smell of her pee, any advice about how to mitigate or manage the smell?
