home schooling in DC

short and possibly stupid -- is DC under the jurdistiction of any other place for homeschooling?  or is wash DC "its own" legally for schooling?

It may have changed but sometime during the last 3 years homeschooling legislation was enacted within DC.

 

We lived in Bethesda, MD at the time so probably around Fall of 2008?

 

Basically from what I remember the legislation was basically a mirror of Maryland's with the exception of no creation of an 'umbrella school' option. When we lived in Maryland we signed up with an umbrella school so that we didn't have to submit anything (other than registration) to the school board.

 

There are multiple, active homeschooling groups in DC. If you are thinking of living and/or homeschooling there any one of those might be able to give you more recent info.
