Fibrocystic Breasts - Page 2

I'm trying to search online to find sources, and would love it if anyone had them (with reviews, especially) and could post.  I'm making the switch.  I'm a little freaked by the fact that I'm getting this discomfort and am not taking any more chances.

I'm keeping my sports bras for now, but won't wear them for most of the week.  Bra bras are out.  I have one cami that I love, but it's got a shelf in it which isn't overly desirable...but better than nothing for work dresses.

I can tell you the brand names of what I purchased and maybe that will help? One thing I will mention, just so you know, is everything I purchased is a different size. I had to try everything on because each brand/store fit so differently. If at all possible, I would recommend finding at least a couple in person that you really like and then buying those online.

Anyway, the bralettes at JCP were Barely There brand and you might really like those because they are very similar to exercise bras in some ways. I got a medium for slightly more support and a large for slightly less support since I was technically between the two sizes, although "support" is an odd word to come to mind because these don't have SUPPORT like us bra-wearers are used to. It is very subtle. The 100% cotton camisoles from Target are Circo brand. I fit into Girls size 14-16. Then, Styles For Less had two different types and they ran small. I needed size large there and an XL might have been okay, but they didn't have any. (All over the map, size-wise, which is kind of crazy!)

Old Navy had a bunch of pretty colored camisoles, but I was specifically looking for skin tones so I didn't even try them on. I have purchased camisoles through Chadwicks of Boston in the past and in person at J.Jill. J.Jill runs big and Chadwicks tends to run a bit small, IME. I don't have any now, but I think they had shelf bras inside. I wear S and XS at J.Jill and at Chadwicks I am between Medium and Large.

I hope that helps a little....

we sound similar in size.  I'm a medium on top in most brands, xs at jjill.

may I ask (and you don't need to answer!) about your breast size?  the thing that makes me feel apprehensive is my size.  At this point I'm going for it anyway, but I'm curious to know from a larger sized woman how it felt in the beginning and how they've adjusted.

In fact, you could talk more about it too!  I'm also thinking of starting a spin off thread so that we don't hijack this poor mama any more than we already have.  If I get around to it, I will.  Then with an appropriate title we (and by we I mean *I*) might get more support-lol.

thanks for the input, and yes...it does help!

If anyone starts a new thread before me....could you link from here?  thanks!

I hope the OP doesn't mind the lengthy discussion. I posted numerous times in an effort to encourage other mamas who expressed similar questions as the OP.... Maybe we should start a new thread: Bra-free Support Thread?

Anyway, I am not particularly shy, so I don't mind discussing my bra size (or lack of now...LOL). I have been a 34 around for as long as I can remember even through weight changes of 50+ pounds. My actual breasts have changed quite a bit, though. Started as a B as a teen, then a C in my early 20s. Somehow I became a D before pregnancy. During pregnancy, I went up to a DD/E. While breastfeeding, I went up to a DDD/F. (What a pain! Quite literally!) Do you know it is impossible to find 34DD or 34DDD (at least back when I needed them)??? So, I ended up in 36s a lot of that time. Anyway, my last underwire bras were 34D (if demi-cup styles) and 34C (if full-cup styles). My wire-free bras are 36C because I was aiming for a looser fit around my midriff and they are full cup styles.

Hope that helps...

I referenced this thread, too. smile.gif
