Looking for progressive OB/GYN or midwife in NYC.

My sister lives in the West Village and has been TTC for about 6 months with no luck.  She needs to start looking for a care provider!  Anyone have a midwife or alternative OB that you loved?

TIA

Bump.  Anyone?

If she's willing to come to Brooklyn I'd recommend Stacey Rees @ Clementine Midwifery. We're using her for our 2nd birth right now and I plan on using her for some well woman care after the baby.

There's also Village Obstetrics on W 12th St @ 6th Ave - I've read they are a good OB practice that is pretty progressive,

Teacup, have you birthed with Village Obstetrics?

I birthed at the Brooklyn Birthing Center, and I loved it.

I lived in Queens at the time, and they came to my home for the 3day check up.  I absolutely loved my midwife there.

No I saw Villiage for consult while with my homebirth midwives. They did tons of things that impressed me. I was introduced to both doctors and spent my appointment with both of them. I was listened to. I was told the highly medical approach, his recommendations, and was treated with respect when choosing

to do nothing. My anxiety was not dismissed. when the doctor was behind schedule the receptionists offered to call me. The doctor answered non emergency emails in the middle of the night. This was when he worked for St Vincents too. He was certainly very busy, looked at his blackberry during my appointment, and answered a call, but I still felt important and like he was focused on my care.

Thanks so much for your thorough response.

I know him from St. Vincent's when we transferred from a homebirth in November 2009.  He was respectful and compassionate.

We're trying to get preggers and possibly this might be a route we follow.
