Quoting issues....

Thread Starter

Hello.  First off, thank you for being so patient with all of us!  I know this is new to you guys too.  Second, thanks for fixing the smilies. thumb.gif (Will we be able to just type :lol an have it work again someday?  I know a lot of us prefer it that way...Just a thought.O

Ok, so my issue is with quoting.  I mentioned this a few weeks ago but you guys had much bigger issues to sort so I figured I'd leave it for a while.

When I quote or multi-quote someone I cannot get my message out of the final quote box.  I will quote this message so you can see what I mean....

Ok, now you can go ahead and show the quoting issue.

The thanks goes to you and everyone in the community for being so patient with all the changes!

The main quoting problems seem to be coming from the use of the default editor (Rich Text). If you switch to the BB Code editor, this will not only reduce the amount of quoting problems but also enable you to type the  :) shortcuts and have the smile.gifsmilie actually appear without having to click the smilie icon and selecting the individual smilie. I highly recommend trying the BB Code editor and seeing what you think.

I'm having hte same issue, and I see people mentioning it all over the boards. When I quote someone, I can't get the cursor to appear below the greyed-out quote box. I can click above or in the box and see the cursor, but not below. This means that if you quote someone you have to type above the quote, which I think makes it confusing to read as you scroll through a thread.

This happens in both Firefox & IE for me. I've switched to the BB Code editor so hopefully replying will be easier now for me, but the rich text editor is just not working properly.

one trick i learned is that you can copy the whole quote and paste it back, it up one line, that created a blank line under it and you can drop your curser in there, very annoying if you have a lot to do, but it does work untill there is a better solution!

I gave up on the rich editor completely, because half the time the cursor wouldn't work or I'd be typing and my words would start at the top of the reply box (above the rest of my reply, so the last part would end up on top of the first part). The basic editor has been working well for me, though, so I'm not complaining. wink1.gif
