moveing and re-starting services

My son is in ST (via the school and an IEP) he is also in private OT 8x a month and therapy 2x  a month.  All driected at speech, eating, and SPD related issues (and anxiety).

ve are going to be moving in 2011 -- not sure where as there are 2 options for us.

But I kow that his IEP goes with us,

he is techinally in pre-school though we home school so he is in classroom only one day a week for additional services.

just not sure how  to "start back up" when we hit a new place.

I am kinda worried w e have such a rocking team now ...

thoughts?  BTDT?

We moved last summer.

DD was on an IEP for PT & OT and got services for over a year in Preschool (she is Bday 10/05) for gross motor delays and SPD. We also did private OT through our insurance.

When we moved- they re-did the IEP (states have a certain time frame to  reevaluate incoming students) and found her no longer eligible since she was academically(and beyond) on track for her age and her disabilities (documented mild CP & PDD_NOS) were not impacting her ability to learn. I was devastated.

She had a fantastic team where we moved from and had just had her annual IEP meeting updated and reviewed 3 months prior to moving. New state did not offer PT as a pull-out (stretching & exercises), but only as a resource for adaptations (she did not need any for mobility, but does have very tight legs and toe walks).

The state we moved into was within their rights to reevaluate her unfortuantely. Sometimes they will just informally change the IEP over to the new state, due to the financial implications a new Spec. Ed. student brings in ,our new state always reevals students and per our PEDI- they are very very tough to get services from unless there is a great need  and/or large academic delay. Even with documentation.

SPD is not a recognized disability (she was getting services for mild CP in old state) in either state---so regardless that she licked the floor, mouthed things, toe walked, spun, and is intolerant of loud noises, as long as she is not doing 'dangerous' behaviors or behind academically---they will not offer school based services.

Next year she will get a 504 to meet her unique set of needs, but for now she is not getting any OT/PT (our new insurance has high co-pays). Inspite of some mild delays---her advanced academics mean that she can accommodate for her 'weak' areas and is currently above or at grade level (except gross motor skills, but since she does not need any accommodations to function in a classroom, no services are offered for gross motor).

It is frustrating. If we had stayed in the old state- she would be getting weekly OT & PT and be in 1/2 day kindergarten. In our new state she is still in preschool (due to cut off dates) and gets no services through the schools.

We are looking into PT/OT through Easter Seals and few other private programs. 

She has made good improvements, but still can not ride a trike, has extreme fatigue, and some real 'quirks'. We will see what next year full time K brings.
