Believe me I am not complaining, but why is DD all of a sudden taking a nap?

DD is 7.5 months. She, like my other two was only a 20 minute at a time sleeper.

Very hard and NO break.

All of a sudden for 4 days in a row she has taken a morning nap of about 1&1/2 hr.

She takes one more in the late afternoon that is still only 20 minutes and still stays up till 10PM.

So, still not a great sleeper, but this nap is amazing and she wakes up talking in the monitor instead of crying.

IT IS SO NICE.

Anyone else's have anything similar?

SHe hasnt started solids yet, and  I havent been doing anything different.

Im almost worried that I posted this- the stars might line up the old way.

Wow, that sounds rough (the 2x20min naps)! Makes for a really long day.  Did she recently go from 3 to 2 naps? The only explanation I can come up with is sheer exhaustion. My DD (now 9mo.) has never been a champion napper, typically 45 mins., but at 7.5 months she was going thru the 3-2 nap transition and the first nap started to lengthen a bit (sometimes up to 1.5hrs).  But 10pm is crazy late! Since transitioning to 2 naps, it's a rare day that I can keep my DD awake until 6pm, specifically because her naps are so crappy. (I can keep her up, but total meltdown and misery ensues.) Maybe she has turned a corner! smile.gif

i had a non-napper until about 6 months or so. it used to be i was lucky to get 45 minutes, but the morning and pm nap both turned into 1.5 hours (i think the am nap came first so you might have hopes for a loner pm nap too!)

i think at a certain age/stage they just get better at consolidating sleep and can pass through one sleep cycle into the next one better.

yea!

Well, I should have kept my mouth shut!

For the past two night, she is awake every hour and needs to nurse.

I am SO tired and my back is so twisted from nursing half awake in bed.

She doesnt seem to be teething.

What the heck?

This is worse than when she was a newborn.
