High school math supplements

My baby brother is in 9th grade and is having a really hard time with math. He has an auditory processing disorder and his teacher is not very accomodating or helpful. Are there any math programs for this level (beginning algebra?) that he can do at home with my mom to help him? The textbook he has through school is fairly useless-I looked at it. I'm thinking maybe Math U See or something? He is not advanced in math, so nothing too up there.

I second this!  It is an awesome site.  You can organize it buy subject too.  It goes from elementary math to college math.  There are other subjects too.  We are using it as a supplement.

Another free site with interactive math lessons and games, K-12. :-)

Never hurts to look at tough concepts from a couple of different angles!

I would also look into purplemath.com

If your brother is struggling you might have to try several programs before you find what fits for him.  You might also want to look at community college and see if they have duel enrollment and remedial math.  Then he can utilize their tutors.

Also, be very honest with your brother about this.  There is different types of math.  Many people do not get algrebra but are good at other maths.

Thanks. He has an auditory processing issue and has low self-esteem about his school issues, so I'm trying to help him out without embarrassing him. He's getting a tutor at school, but they're not very good and it's very expensive where he lives.
